This may be a stupid question but is this actually legal to drive the car swapped on the street? You are replacing the whole rear suspension assembly and making new engine/tranny mounts. |

Should be, you're not changing any of the original safety equipment. |

The only problem legally that I can see is when you go to safety the car, you will need to prove the alignment. They punch in the vin # and it shows up as fwd hatchback, if the alignment is off they need to adjust it. The garage might let it pass, but shouldnt be a problem if you know the mechanic or garage. As long as you keep the car it shouldnt be a problem. |

Depends upon the State or Provence. In VA, they don't check alignment at the safety inspection. Some places don't have any inspections. You will have to know your specific area. v |

You will have to know your specific area. Exactly, in OFallon, IL we dont have an emissions check or saftey inspection. |

They check vin's though, right? In Winona, they don't check anything. All you do is take the title down and have it transfered, and get insurance on it, and that's all they care about. |

I wish they didnt check vin's. They do here, both Saskatchewan and Alberta side of Lloydminster. |

I already have the car registered so i am not too worried about the saftey. Mobile inspection would know whats going on as soon as they saw it i am sure. I was just wondering on the legality of this if i have to explain it to them. |

Crazy. The only thing we have here is emission testing. You pull in, cars go on the dyno with the exhaust sniffer. OBD2 cars just get scanned and that's the end of it. All I have to do is write down that the vehicle is "kept" in a county outside of emission testing. That's the end of it. Send in a check every year and get new stickers. No inspection, nothin. |

Ditto in Alaska.
