I dont have much knowlege in the feild of drag slick. I ordered so M/T this week and will learn fast. I bought 22x8x15 and will be running around 15psi (depending on track conditions).

So everyone discuss there drag slick history and your favorite tires.

Good pick, I run the 22x8x15s.

I'm looking for the stickest street tire out there, but they don't make 555R's in 205/40ish 16, any small aspect in 16 for that matter

Anyone have any ideas?

Post subject:  drag slicks

I ran these same MT 22-8-15's many times last year. I use 8 to 10# for best traction. The trouble is these tires look flat at anywhere from 8 to 15#. Sometimes the staging people give me a hard time because of this. I guess it's the short sidewall that causes them to look flat. Yes, they drive like flat at low speed and I thought they would hurt my MPH. No such thing, my MPH went up 3 with the slicks and they handle great except when you slow way down and turn a corner. I had wheel hop with drag radials, but none with slicks. I never got better than a 1.94 60' and a 12.24 ET, but I hope to do better this year. The thing I like most about slicks is you can come out real hard without worrying about breaking something because of the wheelhop.

what do the 22x8x15's cost ya? And when you launch on them what do you guys find works more effectively, do you feather the throttle on the launch and dump the clutch, or slip the clutch slightly, then let it all the way out?

I had the same slicks on a 250 hp supercharged integ and if I was not at 5K at the start It would fall on its face. I think Bill should just drop the hammer and have a good time.

on turbo car, you have to pedal the gas off the line if you don't have a two step to do it for you. it will build some boost to keep from bogging. remember that generally, a call will be in vaccum just rev it up 5000 rpm(negative -15-20psi). if you pedal it, it will be at zero psi, which is closer to max boost. in my talon awd, i find it best to slip the clutch at 5000-6000 rpm to keep from breaking and get the best lauch. if you have lsd, then go for with a strong tranny, then dump it.

Tmo will do the job as for getting the intake manifold pressure in the positive range, Im getting 3 pounds of boost @ 4000 rpm, and 4psi @ 5k

I also bought m/t 22*8*15 for this summer, cant wait to see how its gonna be with the launch controller and the 2stage boost controller.

Yes, I'm picturing a 4.5k stutter launch on the mirage in a few weeks at the track :)

My stomach gets all tingly even thinking about it, is that bad?

I'm ditching the AFC/MAS setup and going with the EMS. Stay tuned!

Im prolly going to pick up a DIS-2 and use that for my two step function. I used to preload the tranny before I dropped the clutch in my accord (let it out til the car moves just a very tiny bit, then drop the clutch...keeps the gears touching each other instead of shocking them and banging together). I have a 6 puck disk as well, so slipping it should not overheat it. A carbon/carbon clutch would be very nice..but $3400 :o

Youll see, launches are much harder, but no big bang on the tranny, just a good smooth amount of torque.

The fun part is to hear the turbo spooling imediately when starting to move.

i want know i can make 400hp with a second gen mas, so i am sticking with it. when the cash is better, i will go with the f.a.s.t. it is easy to use and is very clean in term of installation. my friend made 550 with it. you will have to mod the cas to make it work. simply block one of the window in the cas and it will be in sync with the f.a.s.t ignition system.

sorry about going off subject in the previous post. i was wondering about the clearance problem with the 15 inch rims. i am considering bogart or circleracing 15x8 but i am concern about the clearance with the slick on.
