Post subject:  2008 1/4 mile times

Alrighty guys, after thinking about it for a bit I decided I could start this and edit in peoples times.

I figured we could go with a more typical style I have found on other sites.

Since this is my thread, I won't include NEWBIE'S. I understand that everyone has to start somewhere but it doesn't take long to get aquainted with the guys on here and become apart of the community.

Here's how the format will go.

Screen name/Model/Engine/Major power adder(s)/Drivetrain/Tires/60'/1/8 mi @ mph/1/4 mi @ mph/Track w/ date

Also please try and follow this guideline as closely as possible and avoid rounding the times & traps.

Want to include Gtech times? With an asterick of course. lol

Author:  dragstr4g61t [ Thu Sep 04, 2008 5:49 pm ]
Post subject:

MMMM, I'll have to think about that....perhaps a few others submitting times can chime in on it. Problem is how debatable they are.

Post subject:

Supposedly they're pretty close but that's what the asterick is for.

Gtech, I wouldn't feel that would be appropriate for this type of thread.
Racing times that are deservedly fast are meant to be on a track where almost assuredly the timing equipment is up and running, during a sanctioned event, and the safety confines that go with that.
I think you can see where I'm going with this, because it keeps things legitimate in their own right, and shows that the site doesn't actually condone street racing where Gtech may be a tool used to compare runs, or etc etc.

The format is already long enough and serves the purpose many people want from a times list. You can add personal notes such as problems in your post when you submit your time. As well as any other information you would like people to know, just like you did.

The purpose here is to simply offer a structured list that puts everyone on the same terms so people can scan the list quickly and compair results with primary mods.

Also I have seen several lists that had best e/t & best mph. I have always felt we should use the time with the best e/t as that could move you up the list. Feel free to state your best mph in your post and if we see a lot of large variants, I may change the format.

No problem, I didnt really want someone to think that a certain times is the best that can be achieved with a particular setup with out knowing some off the problems, if any. I totally agree with it already being long enough.

Hate to make it longer, but vehicle with driver weight is a value that should be known as well.

Post subject:

MMM, good thought John. However, it will be the only one I've ever seen like that. Perhaps we can put it in the same line as the 'vehicle' if people want. Another thing to consider is that people generally don't know the weight with driver. Not everyone is as anal about weight as I am. :finga:

Post subject:

Ok, deal. Leave off the weight and make no mention of the altitude bs as well then. Oh yeah, :finga: I wuv you too lightweight!!
