Got the new setup all finished up. Finished tuning late on tuesday night. Thrashed to get the car ready and up to the track last night.

Things went better than expected but not what I was hoping for. I had three passes. The first and last were clean. The second pass, came out of the hole very very hard, shifted NLTS into second gear, let the clutch out and there was no gear. Looked down, the shifter was all the way down so I pulled it in harder, nothing. Clutched in, back to first, back to second and ran the pass out hard. Would have been my best pass after feeling that launch.

The little 1.6L just does not have the balls to pull the car out of the hole. I had the slicks at 16psi. 2-step set at 4750, antilag set at 4563 with 2* retarded. Just the right combination to keep from breaking the axle again, and to hook hard. All this car can muster is a 2.0 sixty foot. It comes out really really hard, it just shows a 2.0 every time.

Three times slips looked like this.

R/T .668 .690 .770
60' 2.173 2.061 2.066
330' 5.695 6.117 5.592
1/8 8.595 9.285 8.483
MPH 86.93 79.93 86.87
1000 11.037 11.859 10.934
ET 13.131 14.019 13.025
MPH 108.59 104.16 108.40

This is a new personal best for me. I am exicted and disappointed. Maybe that next pass would have been a 12. Still respectable for a 1.6L at 5880ft.

Steven

Bah, the 1.6 can pull low 1.8's. Perhaps those wee axles couldn't have held it but I'm sure it could see some low 1.9's with your set up and a more aggressive launch. Then again your lift kit could also be part of the equation as that thing squats down like 8 inches during the launch. LOL. None the less, great times for a completely stock 1.6 with those mods. I think a few more passes would have netted you a 12 second pass.

Just as a side note, last night Davis did manage a 1.9 60' on those shitty DR's in my ol 1.6 with anti-lag set at 4813. But I'm not sure I would have pushed the the axles any harder than you did so its a mute point.

Get back to the track and get another 1.6 into the 12's. Just do it, you'll regret it if you don't try.

108 mph at 29psi? Seems low for a 16g power anything that light.

I think the 29 psi is an inaccurate number, his MAP sensor was only showing 24-25 psi on Link and is usually a more accurate source. It was almost a 100 degree's and the DA was over 9000 ft. No one was breaking any records with those numbers.

Kinda seems like overkill on a 16g, even with an efficeint IC setup I would think the intake temps would be crazy.

There are people running almost 40 psi on them and making near 500 whp uncorrected...its a resiliant little turbo. It has one of the best pressure ratio's out there, granted the air is definately hot but its not as bad as your thinking.

With or without NOS? I know it's resilient, and I know people have made upwards of 400whp with it, but 500whp and 40psi sounds absolutely ridiculous. Any examples besides Curt Brown?

Jack, AKA Jack transmission here in Colorado has been running a 16G at 39 psi for 9K miles now and says it is still running strong. Its making well over 400 whp at 6,200 ft elevation. Call him up and chat with him about it, he has been very open with his setup and what it does. Its a big part of the inspiration for Davis to sell his fp3065 and go with a 16G.

Hell, I'd like to get a B16G but they're pretty expensive from what I see. I'm a broke bastard and $350 just isn't cutting it... I'll run my 14B for now...

And there is nothing wrong with running the 14B. It is a very stout turbo for it's size and it can be highly underestimated. With the right supporting mods, a nice pair of slicks, and one to no driver errors, the 14B can put a CSM into the high 11's. I have made many solid kills on the street with the 14B, on my 1.6L. It's a torque-y little turbo and it can put down some goods numbers.

What 16g variant is Jack running and is this on a 61 or 63?

Does he have any videos of it? I bet that thing has an awesome powerband.
