Jesus, to put this to rest, I has my rep from PTE have someone from Garret call me. I spoke with him, he said yes, there are 2 wheels you can get in a Gt35r and a GT40r. The Gt35 family as he called it can be had with 2 potions of comp wheel. It can either be a 51mm inducer (GT3571r) , or a 61mm inducer (Gt3582r).

The GT40 family of turbos has 2 options also. It can be had with a 58mm inducer(Gt4082r) or a 65mm inducer (gt4088r).
I told him why I had him call me, and now I look like an idiot, thanks.

So, since it is not plainly fruit and banana obvious that a turbo with a damn 61mm inducer can in no way shape or form be a damn GT40, I had to spoon feed you ninnys. Never question me again!

He is emailing me the spec sheet for the GT series of turbos for those who still doubt. I don’t know why I care so much that you guys know the truth! I should just let you be blindly led into overpaying for a turbo you in fact are not receiving.

And I bet none of you even called Dave to ask him what is in a Br580 eh?

I can't help it you made yourself look like an idiot. Its definitely not clicking in your head the concept of the family of gt40 compressor wheels. The Gt40 turbo has a gt40 compressor wheel and the gt35r also has a gt40 compressor wheel, but the wheels are different, you posted the differences for us to see so I appreciate that but the two different compressor wheels are called Gt40 compressor wheels. If you cannot accept this then its not my problem. Obviously you asked the wrong questions to you rep cause I asked the right ones to the precision rep I know.

it'sa common issue. Mitsubishi does the same $%# with housings and wheels. same name can be two different things depending what part you're talking about. i personally didn't think it was taht difficult to grasp though. you have to look at the turbo not as a complete unit but as a combination of smaller units. like legos.
Give me an exaple then, becuase off the top, I dont agree.

There is only 1 type of comp wheel in a 14b

There is no varient turbine wheel that you can call a tdo5 turbine

perfect example, you're naming specific wheels. you just answered your question from the beginning. think about that.

I named turbos in which the size of the wheel changes, so does the turbo's name. 2 turbos with different wheels do not have the same name as suggested.

Well, here it is. Here you can clearly see the different familys in the GT turbo line. Now all of you that are still confused, please go to the GT40 family, and find me a turbo with a 61mm inducer.

Now, go to the 35 familt, and find a 61mm inducer.

Do we all see why you should not call the damn turbo with a 61mm inducer a GT40? My fruit and banana god that was hard eh?

Garret doesn't name compressor wheels based on inducer measurements, they based the name of the wheel on the exducer dia., thats why you see turbos such as the GT3582r, cause it utilizes a GT35 turbine wheel and a 82mm exducer compressor wheel with a 61mm inducer wheel. Now lets compare the similarities of the GT4082 turbo to the GT3582r turbo. Hmmmm, they both have the last two numbers "82", according to Garrett this means that both compressor wheels in the respective turbos are 82mm exducer wheels, in which case that is why they are both referred to as GT40 comp wheels, cause they both utilize a 82mm exducer dia. Obviously both inducers are different but that's not how Garrett determines nomenclature. Now do you see why they are the same family? I could see your argument if garrett named the wheel off the inducer of the compressor wheel but they didn't, they named it off the exducer of the compressor wheel, in which case you can get both turbos with the same compressor exducer dia.

What is being argued here, is weather the SBR61, BR580, ect ect, have aGT40 wheel as you claim.

Now that the evidence is in front of you, FROM Garret, what do you say about this?

Oh, and Garret does no tname turbos for there inducers?

I guess the T-61, T-60, T-66, T-67, T-72, T-78, T-88 ( a real T88, nut the Greddy version which is a 25g wheel.) , and so on where all flukes eh?

again, how much clearer can one get?

WHEELS ARE NAMED INDEPENDENTLY OF EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!! they have ZERO relation by name to what other wheel they are attached too!!! you can put whatever you want, with whatever you want, the GT series turbos are named after the TURBINE wheel, therefore, any turbo with a GT35 TURBINE is called a "GT35", no matter what the compressor wheel designation is.

Other than that, the facts are on the Garrett site. If your trying to say a turbo, any turbo, with a compressor wheel with a 61mm inducer is in any way shape or form a GT40, that contadicts EVERYTHING on GARRETT's official site, I can't help.

who cares what the turbo is called... just tell me how much air it can flow
i dont care if the turbo is called a T-peewee herman -1 super trim. if it puts my car in the tens its a good turbo...
i've always hated these turbo sizing arguments it goes nowhere..

props on getting the car to the track... sorry for it not coming back in one piece. keep us updated man... :D

Chucky, if you talk to precision tomorrow ask them what the name of the scm61 and gt35r compressor wheels are. Don't ask for specs or anything, ask them what its referred as.
