I went the final round of Import Wars at Great Lakes Dragaway today. Couldnt have asked for a better day to go racing. The air was cool, the sun was beating down on the (well prepped) track, and the Colt was running STRONG!!!!!!!
I drove in, slapped on the slicks, opened the cutout, and went to make a pass. Boost was set to around 23psi. I launch at around 3000rpm, and get the hell out of 1st around 6,000, then shift everything else just over 7000.
Pass 1:
60' - 2.044
330' - 5.477
1/8' - 8.153 @ 91.56
1000' - 10.451
1/4 - 12.367 @ 117.84

Went back to the pits, thrilled about my new times to let the car cool off. Noticed wires dangling underhood, saw my boost switch for the meth injection was busted in half. Ghetto-rigged it, didnt work.

Looked back at my datalog, saw I was hitting between 20-43 counts of knock through the whole run, 10 deg of timing, yada yada.
Took out a loan to put 3 gallons of 100 octane in with my 1/2 tank of 93 octane. :-? Fairly diluted octane IMO, but figured it couldnt hurt.

So everything was all better, time for 2nd pass. Went up against a "clocks off" sprayed LT1 camaro with big MT slicks on those new weld pro star wheels, big cowl hood. Thought I'd get my ass kicked for sure. Not the case :finga:

Pass 2:
60' - 2.063
330' - 5.496
1/8 - 8.118 @ 93.45
1000' - 10.368
1/4 - 12.243 @ 120.51

I reeled the bastard in, took him by a bumper length on the big end. Slowing down side by side, he was slamming the steering wheel, death glare at me. :butthead:
He promptly returned to put his car on the 'trailer'. :P

Went back into the staging lanes to wait for another 1.5hrs, giving more than adequate cooldown time.
Pass 3:
60' - 2.004
330' - 5.410
1/8 - 8.031 @ 93.52
1000' - 10.274
1/4 - 12.153 @ 117.44

Drove it there, drove it home. :drinkers: :drinkers:

With this said, I'm going down next weekend to work on reasonably backing these numbers up with the methanol injection repaired. Its one of those things that pisses me off, but hey, I had a great time, and dropped a half second off my previous best.

(11/5/05 Edit: Car went 12.2 @ 117.8 w/a 2.08 60' on pumpgas/meth injection)

Great times and awesome traps Paul, I bet that thing was flying with the 120 trap. I think with the meth injection working you should really put up some good numbers next weekend. What boost setting do you have the pressure switch at for the meth to come on?

Thanks for the props Spinmasta! The car really did feel great on the 120 trap. I have the meth turning on at 10psi, well, did have it turning on there anyways. I miss the injection for a couple reasons though, one because the high boost setting feels great, but also, the turbo spools up instantly when that injection starts spraying.

Notec: It is battle of the hwy (100) on saturday, which is in conjunction with test n' tune. Yes, you are required to attend. Our wheelstanding single digit nitrous junkie V8 buddies are going down there.

For anyone bored/interested, here are some pics of the cars I went down with. I know you guys will dig the 4G63 Expo van. AWD, 20g and spray. It's still getting the bugs worked out, but a completely badass ride! You gotta love the side exit exhaust and huge trailer hitch!
The black galant broke into the 11's, The black integra is Notec's car, (always nipping at the heels of the colt :axe: ) and the silver 1G on slicks is a complete NT to TSi conversion.

Just figured I'd add that Josh got a 13.8 w/ "Autostart overridden" and .500 reaction time, so 13.3 really. And he didn't break! :cheer: The Tsi converted Talon got a 13.5 so :wtg: to him. My 13.3 was a bit disappointing, but that's why another trip to the track is warranted! And I'll be trying out a new technique. . .

EDIT: Not sure what the significance of "Autostart overridden" is anymore, after looking at one of paul's timeslips.

Thanks for the props Craig! I have already exceeded my goals for the year, (was hoping for 12.5 by the end of the year) but of course, now I really want an 11.999 on the 16G/pump/meth/full interior and Ive made it my new goal.
I'm gonna leave everything alone, and try working on my launch technique.
If I could just hit a 1.9X 60', I'd be there...

I'm gonna be putting the car away by the end of November if you were looking to take a spin.

Great times! 11's are well within your reach by next season.
