It has been two years since the colt has been out. Ive fixed a few things this past week to make sure it would be safe out there.

Im pretty disappointed cuz my last time out i ran a 14.2@97mph with 2.4 60's. Now two years later, I couldnt break into the 14's!!!

It was cool out, low 20's (celsius), low humidity. The track was slippery.

From 7pm till 11pm, all i got in was 4 runs during the test n tune night! It seemed every other car was breaking, most of the time was spent cleaning up spills. PURE shit.

I didnt even get a chance to practice my launching.

First run, was a 15.06@96mph, 2.7 60' and 15psi boost, stock 195 60 14's all season tires at 34psi.

Second run, 15.08@94mph, 2.6 60', 15psi boost, 26psi in the tires, Launched this one from idle!!

3rd, was 18psi boost, my clutch began slipping in third gear and fourth this time, 15.3@93mph 2.7 60'. Launching at 3000rpm.

Last run, 10psi boost, 15.3@90mph, 2.4 60'. This was more controlled, but still slow.

I need slicks, and i guess a new clutch too now. Damn.

I just cant get it out of the hole. At least i logged the runs, and i have no knock at all even at 18psi!!
stock 61t, w/ 14b, starquest IC, 90 dsm mafs /2GTB elbow /1g 90TB /ex.manifold /90 ecu/450's, lightened 61t flywheel w/ CFDF clutch, sprint springs on awd dsm KYB agx's on all corners.

This thing has got to be faster than just mid 14. Especially running 18psi boost.

Does anyone feel my pain?

Im gonna park it and consider selling it. I think i'm done with fwd.
I still have to install the BM lsd insert, not sure if that would help any. We'll see when i get a new clutch in.

Don't give up, just a few things need attention.

Tyres: 195/60/14's will be too narrow, get yourself some 15 * 6.5 alloys, and run at least 215/60/15's. This will bring your 60's right down.

Also, how far is your ignition timing advancing, are you running on decent fuel? your trap speeds should be over 100mph easily running 18psi, what elevation is your track at?

BF makes a 205 60 14, i want to try that tire before going to a 15", i like the stock look with cars.

I'm not sure about the elevation, i would have to check the track's website and search on it.

My timing is anywhere between 22-24 deg when full throttle, my egt's are in the low 800's, my injector d/c is hitting 90-91%.

Ive also got a walbro 255 in the tank, i run sunoco 94 gas. My hks afr is set to add fuel by 1% at 4000rpm, then slowly increase to 5% by the time it hits 6500rpm. Shifting at 6800rpm seems to be pretty consistent too.

The motor seems very strong, its the traction i have issues with, and im not even gonna consider an awd swap. If anything, i would consider an sr20det s13 vehicle swap!!

I haven't given up, its the time issue, and money, i have it , but i need to start renovations on my other half of the house, need to finish the basement so i can have it ready to sell in the next couple of years, which would mean the colt wouldnt come out next season. So why park it when someone else can enjoy it. Mind you, it wouldnt go for cheap!

I agree, i think i should see a 100mph trap speed. Really, its all i want.

At what point are you getting into full throttle?

That sounds a LOT like my car...I was runnin 15.2 at 94mph, at 18psi, with MASSIVE clutch slippage. Of course, I was also on 16yr old shocks! I bet you're running too rich. I have 450s and a SAFC, with NEGATIVE 15-20% correction all the way across the board. I'm also running alcohol injection, but I only have it set up to start spraying at like 13psi.

Anyway, I think a better clutch will significantly improve your times (I can't wait to install the 4G63T clutch I have laying around).

It looks like into third i'm full throttle, but then i have to blip the throttle if the clutch slips, or if the clutch grabs, the tires break loose, so i have to try to reengage traction? Make any sense?
1 and 2nd gear, my foot has the twitches to try and control wheelspin.

Ive got the centerforce dual friction clutch in there, which i bought from a fellow member with low mileage. It has been working fine the last couple of days on the road, no slipping at all. I must have killed it on the track burning clutch trying to keep the tires under control thru 1st and 2nd.

What other clutches are there for the 61t flywheel. I want to stick with the 61t flywheel due to the weight i got it down to, 12lbs. The dsm FW weighs about 19lbs. I really dont want to spend the money on a fidanza, but if i have to, then i just might, and add an act2600 and be done with it.

This winter, i will be taking the tranny out and try to install the BM lsd thingy. I hope it doesnt ruin my perfect shifting km210 tranny. It shifts so light and perfect, its the best mitsu tranny ive ever owned.

My fuel control is removing 2% fuel from idle up to 3100rpm, then its untouched till roughly 4000rpm, then i start bumping up the fuel by 1% every 600rpm till 5%@ 6500ish rpm. This is off the top of my head. If i dont, at 18psi boost, i get knock counts into the high teens, and timing pulls back too. I may try to remove more fuel down low, more so for fuel efficiency while around town.

I'd bet the slipping clutch is your problem. With your set-up, traction in second or third should not be a problem unless your tires or the track are really crap.
With my evo 3 I can go full throttle in 2nd; sure it spins, but not to the point of hurting traction. I wish I had listened to the members here and NOT gone with a centerforce dual friction, BECAUSE; it has less than 5000 klicks with only about 10 g-tech runs, one autocross, and little abuse. BUT, after a dyno run on Saturday, it was slipping on the way home  :( Granted, it was a Mustang dyno, which really loads the tires/car, but only 3 pulls. I'm pissed.

Sorry to hear that Wade. I'd have to agree that those centerforces while good for an upgrade in the NA world, it seems they lack for the Turbo variety of engine combos.
