Yesterday I learnt that driving at the track is completely different then on a private airstrip/on the steet.. now i understand how much more is involved, but now i'm hooked!

Need some help with this., Was my first time at the track and got 12 runs in.. had a lot of problems getting it into second, actually only got it in four times, it would either grind or act as if it was in neutral. Finally figured out it would go in if i held the clutch in for approx 1sec before releasing it, then it would grab the gear

60ft times got better through out the day, but the ETs usually varied, depending how second gear worked out, anyways, heres the best run

Reaction: 0.667
Driver RT: 0.001
Vechile R: 0.666
60ft: 2.4
330ft: 7.1
MID MPH: 67.06
660: 10.862
990ft: 14.034
MPH: 85.22
ET: 16.769

This is a stock 4g63t swapped hatch, 3in full exhaust (no cat), Walbro 255, 14b, SMIC, KM210trans, 15" wheels 25lbs pressure

I don't know what boost i'm running cuz i would never hit full boost, MBC is installed but never had a chance to build anymore then 10lbs or so and that only happens in third, dont feel any boost in 1st or second..

Any input welcome, i only beat a sunfire and a lancer

Turn the boost up and watch those times drop drasticly, also I slip the clutch at the line just a little, has netted me consistent 2.2 60's on stock tires.

Wow, that sucks. I could have whooped you in a stock 4G61T. Like dragstr4g61t said. Just more practice and you'll get things down.

time for a tranny rebuild, or better yet, swap in a fwd dsm tranny, we netted .2 in the 8th with just the gear changes in the dsm trans, also, make sure it shifts before you put it in,

try changing your trans fluid to penzoil synchromesh fluid, it usually helps with shifting.

what rpm were you shifting at? if around redline, try backing rpm back to 6500 before you shift, and don't power shift(hold gas to floor between shifts, its like trying to pull a piece of rebar out of the ground, it WON"T shift)

Damn, that would mean 3trannys in 2months.. I am running pennzoil syncromesh right now, it's almost like when i shift into second i gotta wait a sec and i feel a light click, then i can let out the clutch and it grabs no prob, but i lose engine speed quick with that wait. I wasn't powershifting either, which is even worse.. I tried shifting at 5,6,7k all netting the no gear or grindage when i let the clutch grab.. Works awesome on the street though.. messed with the cable adjustments at the shifter some.. didn't really help much though..

I'm a little bit relieved that its not me doing shitty, i took a buddy of mine up and we took turns running it, he was getting the same results also, we can't both be that bad!

Non shifting trannies will kill your times. All my high 12's last year were on a shitty 2nd gear. Should've been low 12s

From the looks of it He's losing a huge amount from just before halftrack through to the traps, I'd say get a datalogger on the thing, I'd be willing to bet he's getting a huge knock sum and the timing is being pulled all the way back.

I just tested it for boost leaks and i think thats where the prob is, doesn't hold nothing, the turbo outlet might as well not even have bolts in it it's leaking so bad, bad enough it wouldn't even charge up the rest of the intake, i'll get a gasket and start there, mabey thats why i only get boost in third, cuz its flowing more? I logged it with TMO and there was a little bit of knock right after shifting to third, unfortunatly, timing wasn't on the graph, it only lasted one block (2secs) and only went up 1/4 of the way, don't have the laptop with me so thats the best i can do now..

Can someone confirm whether synco fluid is good or bad for DSM trannies because I thought I read a post concerning oils and a bulletin from Mitsu stating this sort of thing. I could be wrong here .... ?

Find yourself a 92+ FWD dsm tranny, from what i have heard, they have stock double sycros.

With the shifting problem, your clutch might be getting too hot and sticking. Mine does that sometimes.

As for the time, you have to have something else wrong, because with all though mods you should be getting aleast 100m/h. As the trap speed is a good indication of power.

Even though I have AWD, I have less mods but my trap speed is 104m/h.
I have another mate has a FWD Mirage with 4G63T swap with minimal mods and also gets over 100m/h.

Let us know when you fix your boost problems, you should be able to put down a high 13sec with those mods.

There is definately something wrong, I was running similar E.Ts up to 660 with my 4g15 colt. if I remember correctly it was 2.5 60' and 10 something @60mph at 660', 17.76@75mph for 1/4mi
