Well last night I got back to the track to see if I could get my 4g61t/11b into the 13's. Ran 14.077 best and had several more 14.1's and 14.2's. I shaved off another 100 lbs and did some porting work to the turbo and that allowed me to gain just over 20 mph on the top end where I used to only get 16-17 mph. Traction was the main issue and not hard to imagine since I'm running cheapy 175/65-14's I got at Pepboys. Still managed a 2.145 60' though and at 5,800 ft elevation I really can't complain.

wow , u got me impressed! good job
there's still hope for my 61T stock 11b also, lol
What boost are you running? A set of drag tires will surely put you in the high 13's. What are your suspension mods btw?

That is really good. Just need something a bit more sticky like some Falken Azenis Sports.

Thanks, everyone calls my car a freak of nature and maybe it is, who knows. I was running 16 psi on a heavily ported turbine housing. I also port matched the manifold and 02 sensor housing.

Mods. JDM 1.6L w/ 1.8L head and intake manifold.
2.0L T/B port matched to intake
1G SMIC
1G AWD springs and struts (from the junk yard)
ported 11b, manifold and 02 housing
3" turbo back, straight through 3" dynomax muffler, side exit exhaust (loud...very loud)
MBC set to 16 psi
Walbro 190 lph...caught a good deal, didn't really need it yet.
Stripped down to 2,110 lbs from 2,505 (stock weight first time I raced)
Everything else is stock.
I shift at 6K to keep it in the power band and the fact the tranny has 215K on it and won't shift into second or third if I go past 6,500.

I agree about the tires, dsmracer read my mind actually. I'm gonna pick up a set of the Falken Azenis Sports and see if I can drop my 60' .2-.3 seconds...that could net me mid 13's if the turbo doesn't go first hehehe.

Congrats. Perhaps I should let you drive mine. What was the mph? I'd easily be into the 12's on the 61t with a 14b if I could get some decent short times. Confounded FWD and '89 suspension...

I need slicks -- I'm an AWD guy. :P

Falken Azenis sports are great track or autocross tires, but I did better 60' times with el cheapo 196/60-14's than with the azenis 205/50-15. Maybe because they need to be warmed up to stick, but waiting in line for the lights they cool down.? Or maybe I don't now how to launch :-? . I wish I had a 60' like yours!

You want SOFTER sidewalls for drag launching, that's why the Azenis aren't so good. For cornering you want the stiffest sidewalls you can get.

That's why I question people who think they can autocross well on drag radials. Sure the compound is nice and sticky but the sidewalls have too much flex.

I found on my falkens they stick better when cold, very strange for a performance tire.

Great times bobby cant wait to race you again up at bandimere this coming week now that I have a clutch/bov that will hold!

His car is a freak of nature. It pulls like a raped ape from light to light. Are you sure it is still a 61t? LOL Talk to you later.

And what street tire is better? Azenis work great for street tire. You'd probably be supprised to know that there was a porsche running 9s on RA1s.

Do you have any experience with either? I've autoxed successfully on nitto drag radials running close the times I've run on dot race tires.

Most AWD drag cars run good on RA1s.

robert, could u tell us some easy weight reduction steps to achieve that awesome curb weight. Its the only thing thing on your list that was free! lol
thanks
On your junkyard suspension, did you have to cut your front springs two coils like it says on the archives and is the drop about 2 inches? Should i do this while saving up for a "real" suspension, is it worht the effort?
