Thank you hemi! I have had the car for 8 years soon and always drove it on a daily basis. First pass ever was in 2003... I ran 16.4 @ 83 mph

If you look at it this way: it is only 5.1 seconds quicker and 47mph faster now.... Sounds like no improvement compared to the amount of bacon that was thrown on that little pink box.
I just noticed your sig and had to laugh. We (used to) own the same cars. I also drive an '02 Maxima 6spd daily but no longer own the Mirage :( .

I love my Maxima, favorite car I've ever owned (all things considered - confort - speed -looks -etc).

Haver you tried running it at the strip? I managed a 14.86 @ 93.2 mph with an intake as my only mod and full weight (including the child seats) weighed in at 3400 lbs. Not bad for a fully loaded 4 door family car that gets 27 mpg average, has full leather, heated seats, heated steering wheel, sun roof, 18's and a Bose stereo.

Sorry to get off topic

In other words you could have been called "Colt" "Max" Too ;)
The Max was initially for V-Max. ;)

I love the Maxima, good power, confort and room. But I hate to work on this car. Bolt quality is by a lot inferior to what mitsu was using for our CMS/DSMs. With Canadian winters and all the salt they spread on the roads it completely ruined the Maxima.

Never tried it on the track though. and dont think I will... But I would be curious to go with one tank of Petro canada 94 octane VS 91... Amazing to see how much timing this car pulls back or pushes forward with or without knock :O

I have 177 000 kms on it so far (110 500 miles) and it is running very smooth. I own the car since 112 000 km (70 000miles).

So far I had to replace the followings:
- Tranny (previous owner was towing a boat and I finished it with wheel hop :) )
- Clutch (while changing tranny)
- Brakes
- Starter
- Alternator
- Battery
- Exterior temp sensor
- One O2 sensor
- Part of the exhaust system
- Radiator Cap
- Thermostat
- Tires (Yoko Avid W4's really changed the car, almost no wheel spin anymore!)

A ABS sensor is probably shot and suspension Is next to be replaced. Looks like a lot of parts, but Im trying to keep that beast in perfect shape.

Bottom Line, Ill keep it for a couple more years. I would like to get a M35x next.

Salt states really seem to punish Nissan's. I'm not sure why but its obvious they do very little in the way of plating or coating. Colorado is completely dry and its very rare to see rust so I've seen very little corrosion issues.

I bought my car off a frequent customer that was looking to trade it in. I got it for a steal with 44K miles and it now has 122K miles. Its had two problems the whole time outside of basic maintenance. Frequent warped front rotors (very common on this model) and a dead accelerator pedal sensor LOL. I started the car, MIL came on, idled fine but being electronic it wouldn't accelerate at all. Fortunately, as an employee for Nissan they approved a goodwill and basically paid me to replace it. :D

As for the front brakes, I recently installed a set of slotted '06 Maxima SE rotors, Calipers w/brackets and pads. Its a direct bolt on and the brakes go from 11.7" to 12.6" and a 1/4" thicker. Let me say, best money I've spent on any car to date! Stopping power is significantly better and shorter. I have made several hard 100+ mph stops (gotta see what they can do :D ) and they have almost zero fade and make the nose kiss the ground. Love it! Not to mention they completely fill the stock 17's and look sick too.

I am starting to get an intermittent MIL for an O2 sensor, luckly I have a spare. As a DD, I'm not going to do much to it in the way of performance but I'd like to get headers, TechnoFlash ECU and install the 4.0L cams I've had for a couple years. When the clutch finally dies, I'll get a lightweight flywheel but not till then.

That was last year, but I am going back next saturday.
Well the elantra head definately gave me more torque, bu my setup does not flow at all! Time for cams!

379 hp @ 5700 and 403 lb of torque.

So what are you running for boost? When I saw you at E-town I told you I'm going to do the same thing seeing that I have the same head and I do have a set of web 272s for this set up. Just curious on info because I'm doing the elantra swap this winter so by next year the project should be done and I want to start out with a mild engine build to get the feel for the car first to then later the year after make changes in needed.

Well I was running pretty close to 35 psi, but the poor little trim 50 had trouble keeping it to the redline. Boost was falling gradually 35 psi @ 6000 to 30 psi @ 7500 rpm.

Remember, this was on Q16 with 5 degrees of base timing (CAS adjustement).

Ok that's the only thing I wanted to know because with the new head I thought that you were running much less. So when I build my engine I'm going to use the elantra head

Hey neighbour, it is nice to see the colt still in good hands. I cant believe it has been 8 years since you took that colt off my hands! I just traded my c50 this past year for a awd turbo laser to swap into my c10 colt. But no time/money for the cars. So i ended up selling the laser. Now that i see this thread, i really have to start settin aside money for my project which just sits in the garage year after year.
At least i give my c50's away to good homes. My white c50 went to a dsm dude in Peterborough ONT.
Nice numbers, I will be happy with my c10 sedan hitting 13's. I cant imagine shooting for 10's like you are! Good job!

Charles

offtopic, I had a 92 maxima 5spd, and ran 15.3@89mph stock trim and amps and subs in the trunk. Did some minor work (advanced timing, intake/exhaust, lightened flywheel and complete suspension)to it and ran 14.9@91mph. Not bad for a 3300lb family car!! This was back in 99-2000. That car was from Quebec, it too was rotted from rust by 2004 when i sold it.
Maybe i could have username coltmax the 3rd.lol.

Hey! Charles! Glade to hear from you pal!

Yeah, the colt is in excellent shape! She still drives me once in a while to work.
I now have a garage for her to be worked on and to sleep during winter.

We are aiming for 10s next year, Cams, suspension and transmission work should get us there.

So what does the c10 looks like now?
Still happy with your home?

Congrats again Oli!

10 sec for next year I'am sure! And you really put cams next year? I thought you would like to keep it that way....stock motor like stock cams, stock intake, stock short bloc ect.

I think next step before cams for you will be a turbo becaus you can make easily over 60lbs/min and near 140mph on the 1/4 mile.

Anyway good job and don't give up for your 10sec pass! :supz:
