October’s Ride of the Month is finally here and it covers none other than one of our very own moderators, James, aka akdriverjd. James got the Bright Red 1991 Eagle Summit 4 door sedan in the summer of 2003, right after he turned 16. Unfortunately James lives in Alaska so the weather there isn’t too conducive for modding cars, but when James found out about 4g61t.org he gathered so info from the forum and was able to do a few mods to free up the intake and exhaust, and bolt on some parts for a little tighter suspension while making it look good too. Here is a side shot of the Bright Red Summit:
Image

For the mods to the engine, James found out that he could use a few parts from the 1.8L non turbo Talon/Eclipse/Laser motor (engine code 4g37) that would allow more air to be sucked into the combustion chambers to give the 4g15 just a few extra ponies. He picked up the 4g37s freer flowing mass air flow sensor, the 60mm throttlebody, the 4g37 210cc injectors along with the ECU to make everything work properly. He also added a K&N Fuel Injection Perfromance Kit to help out the induction system a little bit more. As for the exhaust, James decided to give that an expanding job since the motor was allowed to breath better and he bolted on a 2.25â€

Cool write up, and akdriver's car is definately hot, needs a bit of a lowering job and maybe a better powerplant, but I reckon its definately worthy of the title 'Ride of the Month'.

Nice job :)

Yeah that definitely was a fun writeup, and I'm glad yall liked it. Thanks to James for taking the time to write a little description and history of the car. Next month is up for grabs for ROTM. Maybe some folks can nominate other members or at least give me suggestions cause I don't mind doing the writeups. If we can't find anyone I'll be more than happy to do the writeup on my car.

Awesome write-up SpinMasta! Thanks a lot!

Ever since I've been on this site, I always hoped I'd have a car worthy of Ride of the Month, and it's sweet that I'm finally up there.

Yeah, the car will be lowered in the future, although it doesn't make too much sense to drop the car 1.6" in November in Alaska...I will probably wait until April(unfortunately) before I decide to put the springs on. They are sitting in my garage, collecting dust. I also have plans to put the stock headlights back on, and upgrade my sub and amp. Also, I believe I'll be going to College in Washington next year, maybe CWU or EWU, and will be avidly looking into an egine swap...so maybe Lil Evo v.2 will be around in the future...FWD of course. :butthead:

I'm definitely looking forward to collaborating with SpinMasta aka Jason on more ROTM writeups in the future. Thanks y'all for checkin it out.
