I'm aware, like everyone else here, that side skirts for the sedans are damn near impossible to find. So, one day while browsing the local pick n pull, i decided to try and find a suitable replacement for these "golden fleeces". What i found, i wasn't sure was going to work, but i took a chance anyway. They are from an early 90's chrysler 4door sedan. I'm not sure of the exact model because i was so involved in trying to remove them without damage, i forgot to look. Next time i'm over there again, i will make sure to get it.
When i got the skirts home, i immediately took them to the garage to see how the fitment was. Much to my chagrin, they were about 4" too long. Time for plan B. I cut the skirts in half with my miter saw at a 45* angle, then took the two halves back to the garage for a measurement on length. I overlapped the halves until i got a perfect fit, then marked where they met. Back to the miter saw and i cut the leftover piece (about 4") at the same angle.
Now that i have the correct lengths, my next dilemma was how to mount them. After about a week of brainstorming, i ended up using material laying around the jobsite (im a commercial carpenter). A few pieces of 1" metal banding/ strapping, some self tapping screws and a 1' length of vacuum hose was all i needed. In a couple hours, i had them mounted and ready for scrutiny.
I think they turned out pretty good. I'm hoping everyone will chime in and give their honest opinion. I know the pics aren't the greatest because of being taken with a cell phone, but they will have to do for now. I'm providing some before and after shots, as well as a few close-ups. Lemme know watcha think!

Not too shabby! I don't know what everyone is complaining about though, I found a BNIB NOS set of sedan skirts within a month of starting my search and got them for a hell of a deal. Guess I'm just l33t or something :butthead: .

Jeremy,

Nice job with the skirts!
Very tight and decent fitment.

cheaptalon,

You like playing with overseas unicorns ? :)
We've been very fortunate with NOS parts now flooding the market.
25+ year mark for these chassis! Heck, they hit the market in '87!

Tim, I have been very fortunate to stumble across some great stuff and have good timing financially as well. It definitely takes some work to find the good stuff, but it all pays off in the end!

Does a hell of a deal = $30 installed. Thats what i have into these... :ANAL:

On a more serious note, thanks to everyone for all the positive feedback. I'm still trying to find something to attatch to the rear bumper cover to make the body lines flow. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Preferably a part from another vehicle. I don't want something thats gonna look rice, it has to look like it belongs there. And please don't say garden edging, or i will have to ask the mods to put a ban hammer on you.

^^

I think these are called rear spatts? I pulled a pair from an 90's wrx but that bumper was rounder than the squarish csm sedan one and did not fit too well.

Did you ever find out what these came from? Since they have to be cut and modded they would fit the hatch too. Also do you have close-ups of where you spliced the two cut halves together at?

I have not been back to the yard yet due to the craptacular weather we've been having.

Good point about them fitting the hatch also, i didn't think of that. ](*,) I grabbed a few pics of the splice i made. The only way the splice is even noticable is if you're on hands and knees. I'll let people decide from the pics though.

That looks great! Even if you were worried about that tiny splice it could easily be filled.

So i was able to get back to the pick n pull this weekend, and wouldn't you know it, the car i salvaged these from was gone. :-? I feel like such an ass. It was definitely an early 90's dodge/chrysler. I found similar skirts on a 93 lebaron, but they weren't exactly the same. They felt a little cheaper and had a different profile. I think i'm gonna pull the ones off my car to check the part #'s and try to go that route.

Would you know the car if you saw it? Maybe just find out what Chrysler actually put out in the early 90's and google some pics to see if anything rings a bell.

Well i did try searching for pics of early 90's plymouth sedans, but nothing really stands out. I'd know the car by looking at the side skirts only.
I finally got around to pulling one side off and was able to get the part number, or so i thought. I tried searching the numbers i got and wasn't able to get a match. Here's exactly what was on the back:
CHRYSLER 4454654 RH
19520 110-35 15% G.F CAV1

Maybe someone else will have better luck. I'll still keep up my search in hopes of solving this mystery.
