Just to share one picture.. The place where magic happens :D
The EDM Eclipse got the engine from my 1GB with fwd turbo trans from my ex Colt (the one near silver Colt).
Turbo engine from my ex Colt is the one we are preparing for my 1GB.
That Colt will get 4G63 N/A.
Silver and the other red Colt are 4G63T also.
DSM in the middle is GSX, the only 1GA gsx in Croatia.
The Lancer on garage is 1.3 75hp :D

That's so nice! I looooove Euro 1g's! I also love that even though it's a '95, it's a 1ga with pop-up headlights. It's a shame they're all non-turbo, and it's also a shame that this one is not a targa top. :P

Everything balanced, polished, block painted..
Today I got the rest of the packages at post office, will be getting them tomorrow.

Need to take GSC valve guides to machine shop so they can finish up the head.
Also new OEM oil pump that is in same package as guides will go up on the block.

Also this arrived yesterday.

Aldo some changes came up. I will not be using this flywheel.
I have TZ series kevlar clutch and what I have learned that it will not be the best combo.

So instead i ordered "Competition Clutch 4140 heat treated chromoly flywheel" that I will also pick up tomorrow from post office.

I found in Poland CXRacing division for Europe.
I ordered from them aluminium water cooler with 2 slim fans and shroud. It should arrive in few days also.
Soon I will have to get all the parts to garage. Good thing Galant is SW so all will fit :D
Soon new pics of progress.

That flywheel is not a super streetable setup, the Fidanza lightweight model like I have, 8.x lbs.

If the Chromoly is heavier, I think you will be happier.

Also, if your clutch is rated for higher torque than a stock turbo motor, BUT does not have a super heavy clutch pedal feel, and can be very "civil" for city driving, then I think you will be happy. There is nothing more involved than having to leave very long spaces between cars when you are in stop and go traffic.

Hey, you have to put a baby seat in the back of another two door! lol Just like the Colts/Mirages!

I had Fidanza flywheel on my Colt, only it was for FWD.
I didn't have much problem with it.
Also had Exedy stage 1 clutch kit and the pedal was pretty hard, but I got use to that also.

Tim from TMZ Performance helps me a lot. This is what he said:
Quote:
Are the southbend clutches compatiable with the fidanza flywheel? Ive seen some threads that say dont work together/
Quote:
They are compatible but I recommend against running the Kevlar surface disks (TZ-Series disk) with them in abusive applications. If it is simply a daily driver and not getting launched regularly then it should be fine. The problem is the different thermal expansion rates of the aluminum flywheel vs. the carbon steel insert friction surface causes problems with the surface warping and resulting in uneven wear on the disk, clutch disengagement issues, and reduced torque capacity from the decreased surface engagement area in contact with the disk.

I have ran the Fidanza with the Kevlar material in the past without problems in a DD, but had to replace the friction surfaces regularly when it saw abuse and track time.

I recommend the Competition Clutch 4140 heat treated chromoly flywheel or the ACT Streetlite flywheel; both choices I keep in stock for all DSM 6/7-bolt AWD and FWD applications. The 1-piece flywheel design with a uniform material is more consistent for thermal expansion and the likelyhood of warping one of these is pretty low. I also prefer to have a 12# flywheel in the car vs. a Fidanza 8# unit which a lot of people without standalone ECU's have decel throttle, neutral stalling and idle stability issues with since they cannot control the idle speed controller stepper motor or they are set up for MAF instead of speed density.

I also offer media blasting of the flywheel friction surface if it is being used with a Kevlar friction material to promote material bedding and reduced break in time. Recovery time to bed the friction material is quicker and reduced surface glazing potential are benefits to this surface treatment.
So I went with that competition flywheel.
I think it will be a good combo. TZ series clutch is rated for cca 500TQ but should have street clutch feel.
Soon I will find out.

The new flywheel is also media blasted so it should help with the brake in process of kevlar clutch.

And yes, when the car will come home I will try if the Recaro seat fits in the back of the Eclipse :)

I have some news.

I got the flywheel from TMZ Performance.. But my happiness disappeared very quickly..

He sent me 7 bolt one :(

Here are the rest parts that arrived (new OEM oil pump and GSC valve guides).

I contacted Tim, he sad he will ship a new flywheel today. But I have to wait another 3 weeks or more to get it. Ahh..

The engine is coming together slowly.

I kept it in parts in my living room, so that would explain it :D

Today I stopped at garage.
Turbo is bolted up, everything is ready, only waiting on flywheel to come from customs, so we can put it back in.
We also swapped the fuel pump and rewire it.
Just need to move the car battery into the trunk, replace motor mount inserts, change few seals on transmission and t case and thats it.

One bad news.. It seams previous owners swapped the rear diff.
It is 4 bolt, but NON LSD.. I was very sad about it.. So I went and bought EVO LSD from a member on DSMTuners. I'm happy again :D

Alo I gave throttle body to my friend and he polished it.

Few pics from today.

Fuel rail is temporary, because we will fire it up on original injectors, ECU and MAF.
After the break in period, we will switch to other fuel rail with 850cc, ECMLINK and SD.

Patiently waiting :D

I've never seen a 4-bolt that was non LSD before. Are you sure? The EVO diff has a different tooth count, so it won't work with a DSM transmission, unless you swap the ring & pinion or something.

When we turned one wheel, other one started turning in opposite direction.
Also if we only raised one wheel we could turn it with no problem.

So yes, it looks like it is non LSD. But I can count, so it is 4 bolt for sure :D

Yes I know all about how to install EVO LSD into 4 bolt rear. Found all on DSM tuners and few other sites.
I will need EVO axle cups also.

Sometimes that just means the viscous is worn out, which is common, especially in such an old car. It's not the best type of LSD you can have, in general.

We fired it up last night. Just to see if all is good.
Had a few sweats, because it didn't want to build oil pressure wile cranking.
Oil pump is brand new so we had to "push" the oil through it.
Next is custom exhaust and IC pipes.

We staretd it on oem 450cc injectors and ECU.
After the brake in, we will switch it over on 850cc, Ecmlink and SD.

Mishimoto radiator came in yesterday. Was fitted this morning.

I also bought some new rims. Pics are from web, but they are the same.
