F YEAH! Nice times and nice looking bay. I diggin the valve cover color.

Thanks- VC was a quick spray of "colorshift" Duplicolor from Autzone

Needs a LOT of Cleaning/tidying up. I will be fixing a few lacking components over winter, and tossing in the 1600's, adding a 255, LSD in trans...ect. I have a 6766 I got for Crack head pricing ready to go-but I think I am keeping the 6262 on for next season since I am still on a stock head/spring and cant push much past 8k without risking float. Also considering how well the motor is holding up for just being "tossed" together, I dont want to mess up a good thing! :)

I think realistic goals for next season-10's on pump, 9.9999 on stock trans (plus LSD) and 150 traps. Then, we'll do some head work. :)

Sounds like a solid plan! I'm sure it will be haulin the mail down the track. I wanted to put a 6262 on my car this winter but I don't think it will be in the cards this year.

Well that did not last long.

Considering what Vlad, Boz, and Jimmy are bringing to the table, I have to bring more. "Digs into box of goodies..."

New Goals for 2013-HP record for Eagle Rods (LOL).

Minimums-700 dynojet HP. 150 traps
Goal 800 Dynojet HP-160 traps, 9.9999

Stay tuned...:ugh:

UPDATE.

After some more hooliganry-I left the car at the Grassroots compound so we could toss a LSD insert int he trans. He calls me a week later.

"Car was running, just died-sounds like it has no compression! I was just moving it in the dirveway!"

I go over, have a beer, and determined that something is indeed very wrong-tow it home.

Upon inspection, the timing had jumped a full 8 teeth! Yikes! I set it back up, and spun it by hand. No contact. Cranked over the motor with no fuel, has compression, but it sounds like a dead hole. Test and find 5 psi in #1. Nothing like breaking **** doing nothing. Take head off-exhaust valves slightly bent.

Winter is good for something-down time. So I put a head together with likely more work than any other head I have done-even tried some experimental port work I have never done before. If this head does not flow a ton of air at low boost levels, I will never do this much work to a head again!! Pics coming soon.

NOTE-I found the tensioner on the car looks like it may be non OEM. All OEM tensioners I have seen have 3 numbers cast into the tension- this does not, and appeared to be of a different casting. After some "testing"- I am 909% sure it is bad. Testing consisted of several compression cycles-a rust OEM tensioner stayed stiff at full extension, while the "new" assumed aftermarket has about an 1/8 inch of axial free play.

After seeing this-I dont think I would ever put a non OEM tensioner on a car again.

OEM Vs China. The Rusty OEM tested good and is going back on the car-DO NOT RUN NON OEM!

Headwork

Zip Tie Racing port job

completely deshrouded. Will flow well at very low lift

Evo8 Valve Springs. Shimmed-and will handle 11mm lift @ 9000rpm. :)

oh the irony, the exact same thing happened to me last Saturday. I had just started the car and got maybe a block down the road and it died out of nowhere. So I tried to start it again and there was no fire, quick electrical check ruled out anything electrical under the hood being bad. So I pulled it home with a rope and immediately went to checking the timing, both cam gears were exactly 8 teeth off! How this happened I have no clue, the tensioner was still tight as with the belt. Head has a few barely bent valves, unnoticeable by eye. Thank god it skipped at low rpm and didnt screw up much, all components we're OEM! Chalking it up as a freak accident and disposing of all the timing stuff for new and switching to a built 1g head. :-?

I had my timing belt slip on me overnight. Parked the car running absolutely fine, started it up the next morning and it had the worst clacking you've ever heard and barely enough power to rev past idle. Turned out the belt skipped 3 teeth. Amazingly, nothing bent. I had a massive oil leak from one of the cam seals, and the belt was soaked in oil, and slipped even though the tensioner was tight. Fixed it, and motor still had 150 compression across the board. Talk about dodging a bullet!

Same with me as well. I had one slip over night. Except I wasn't as lucky.

yeah with these motors u can skip up to 3 teeth while driving normally without any/very lil damage... but @ 5 teeth at idle i will start to bend valves.. so @ 8 there is definite damage there.

That is true- on stock cams! :o

Wil 12mm of lift and high comp pistons, if you stick 8 teeth you may be building a whole new motor.

Trans refreshed to Zip Tie/Rivera racing specs-Old school Slow boy LSD installed. Trans and axles in-Stock ported IM in, TB modded- Exhaust Manifold/6262 back on. Car should fire again this weekend to be dialed in with the new cams. I set the car up to be a test pig for a current intake manifold test. The Stock TB is ported to 70mm, and a 70mm S90 is ready to go. What the test looks like thus far

Stock IM, stock TB, 2.5 pipe. Then 3inch cold side, then 70mm TB and 3inch pipe

JMF DRAG with stock TB and 2.5, then 70mm, then 70+3inch pipe

Same with a Venom.

I have been approached to do other manifolds as well, but my time and patience level will be the deciding factor. I have not seen a viable test by a non bias party for current intake manifolds on the market, or the much debated 2.5 vs. 3inch cold side pipe. Car will be set up at 30psi for all test-and if I have the 67mm back I will do the test with a 6766.

Yours truly. I do all of my own work. Elvin helped me out with the trans because I dont have a bearing press at the house, and I am pressed for time.

And he owe's me a favor. :)
