ok ive had an auto back in 1998-2001 all this new line pressure stuff is not new. i and my father have been around mitsu since 1983 we had what was call a break out box(1985) same thing a shift box is there are many other options out there i have had mitsu engineers get info that at that time wasnt avalible to the public i think its just funny how it is taking over the csm dsm croud making shitty drivers good ones.
I think there's a lot more to it than making shitty drivers better at driving. Yes, it does help, but I think a huge part of why it's becoming so popular is the auto trannies don't break as easily as the manual trannies, and the auto is easier on other drivetrain components like the transfer case and rear-end. You don't have to go out and spend HUGE money on driveshaft shop goodies as quickly as someone making the same amount of power in a manual trans car. You can also spend 1/4 of the money building an auto trans to go just as fast as a manual trans car would go. Sure, you will trap less. Sure, the auto trans will eat up power. Your ET's will go down, and your car will be more consistent. At the rate things are going, it's going to come full-circle. Manual trans cars are going to become the minority. People are gonna be surprised when they see manual trans DSM's/CSM's going fast, just like people were surprised when they saw an auto car going fast in 2003.
