So there is a story behind this. This is my car, and this actually happened to me. This was August of 2003 to be exact. I had a '94 Talon TSi AWD, which was my baby. It was the first DSM I ever owned, and it pretty much popped my DSM cherry. At its peak it had a Small 16g and ran a best time of 12.3 @ 110mph in the 1/4 on 110 leaded race gas @ 22-24psi. It had the original completely stock 7-bolt which had never been taken apart. I bought the car with 74,000 original miles on it in 1999, and when it met its demise it had 165k on the clock and was still going strong (only 4 years later.) Shit, when I bought it it still had the Chrysler 100k mile warranty on it!!
Anyway, flash-forward to August '03. I'm out with a bunch of people for a dyno day. Was my first time ever putting a car on the dyno, so I was pretty excited. The car only made 285whp on race gas, which was sort of a disappointment. I figured she had at least 320whp in her. But whatever, there was still a few gallons of race gas in her, so we decided to grab the video camera and go film some fun. A friend of mine had never felt an AWD launch, so I was more than obliged to demonstrate. She hopped in, I made sure the camera was rolling, and we were off! 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear (OH fruit and banana, A DEER!), BAMMMM!!! WHAT THE fruit and banana!!! I was pretty much in shock. I didn't even have a chance to react to the situation. I literally had enough time to say "oh fruit and banana, a deer", and I hit it. The corner of the deer bounced off my hood and went flying about 15 feet into a field. The people who were filming didn't even know what happened, they thought I blew my motor or something. Imagine their surprise when they found out what really happened...
The car was still rolling, but making bad noises, and the hood was all curled up, but otherwise it seemed fine. It started smoking and overheating, so I pulled into a nearby parking lot (was in an industrial area late at night.) The passenger door was wedged against the fender, so the door wouldn't open. The girl I was showing off for started to flip out, became nauseous, and ended up crawling out the window and puking in the bushes. She was kind of hysterical. I remained calm and collected, and called for a tow truck. Had the car hauled off to a body shop, informed my parents and insurance company. I thought the car would be ok, but it wasn't.
As I was laying in bed later on that night, I realized something. "HOLY SHIT, WE FILMED THAT ENTIRE THING!!!" So the next morning I immediately called my buddy, and he was way ahead of me. I think he had already watched the video 10 or 15 times, and couldn't stop laughing. We knew we had to go check out the remains of the deer, and the remains of the car, and well, just watch the video for yourselves.
