Its crazy I remember seeing these cars were everywhere in the late nineties, and now they all but have vanished. I can't even remeber the last time I saw a Escort let alone a GT or EXP. I know some cars don't hold up well over time but these are a rare sight anymore. |

On the 84 Escort I had issues with the clutch holding. The original clutch is tiny, If I remember correctly it was 6". I wanted a clutch I could rely on so I bought a Fidanza flywheel for a Thunderbird Turbocoupe which is a 9" clutch. I had it balanced neutrally since the escort is internally balanced. All the flywheel bolts lined up except for the offset bolt since the Turbocoupe 2.3 was externally balanced. I had the one bolt hole machined to match the pattern on my crank. I then had to make a custom throw out bearing and fly cut some of the transmission inside the bellhousing to accept the larger clutch. I also put new blocker rings (syncro's) in and put a Phantom grip posi (hope it works). |

Stay safe. Great job on the build, loving the use of color. Getting rid of the winter blues by means of building something, is just how some of us prefer to get through winter! |

shitty about the orginal engine! New build looks good! Start with low timing (retard the distributers base timing) so that you can start getting the boost and fuel dialed in, then slowly add timing after you get boost and fuel figured out. Does the turbo coupe ECU have any aftermarket tuning options, or are you just using stock engine management with a rising rate FPR now? Would a XR4Ti ECU work? Is there a knock sensor at all in the electronics? What do you use to detect detionation? (maybe a set of "maki spec" knock ears would be in order) |

Grey escort was sold at this point. I bought a Holley Commander 950 stand alone for this build.Start with low timing (retard the distributers base timing) so that you can start getting the boost and fuel dialed in, then slowly add timing after you get boost and fuel figured out.
