Very Nice :) I'm curious, what brand timing belt is that?
Thats a Greddy timing belt, has kevlar in it instead of fiberglass. Suppose to stretch less than a regular belt.

ur rings are bad. Do a compression test on the motor. That is whats called blow-by. I can almost guarantee that one of the rings is bad I have had a couple motors do that. Usually the number 1 or 3 cylinders
Yup, that's what happened to my hyundai a month ago, cylinder number #1 when down to 60 psi and I got crazy blow by. The hyundai smokes so bad that people behind me didn't want to stay behind me,lol.

Well, after I picked up the parts from balancing one ring was broken. I ordered a set of rings from a different supplier because he could get them in faster, they came in and the top ring did not fit by a couple of thou. It was too thick. So, I had to order rings again, went back to the original supplier, they came in on wednesday. Here are the some pics of building it, round 2. If everything goes well, I should be able to drive it tonight. Its been around the block once in 12 months. :(

Thanks, I hate the idea of having stuff apart enough to clean it up and not doing it. Plus who wants to install something that is all greasy and oily.

Its almost all in the car now (tranny has a few small scratches in it), just need to wait for a friend to come over and help put the last engine mount on. I have been handling the tranny/engine for hours today and I just noticed when I looked at this picture again that I did not replace the one bolt (on the end cover) that broke off when I took it apart.

Still no driving. I slept in today, but its full of fluids. I had a few blonde moments:
1. Installed rad, then noticed no alternator yet. Tried to install alternator, one bolt could not be removed unless the water pump pulleys were removed. Solution, make the hole in the bracket that needed to be installed a slot.
Image

2. Attempted to fill transmission with lube. Added 3 quarts, still not full... in my head it should of been just over 2, so I looked underneath and yeah, it was leaking out two spots (both cv joint holes). Still not finished, cv joints on the floor still.

3. After I confirmed there was oil pressure, I plugged in the ecu. It was still not willing to start, did a few minutes of looking in the engine bay. Found the injector resistor pack not yet plugged in. So I plugged it in of course. I ran it for maybe two minutes, trying to figure out the idle problem. It will not idle by itself yet.

So this is where it sits:

New rad not yet installed:

On the list for tomorrow, cv joints, drive shaft, wheels, and headlights.

The lowest I have ever seen it

Had to cut the upper lip from the area and drill a few extra holes:

New upper intercooler piping:

- rad, two fans and a wastegate are in the pic too, I had to make a pipe for the wastegate to clear the powersteering pump for now.

Also made some 2.5'' intercooler piping for my friends turbo cobalt, the factory stuff on those cars kinda suck in my mind.

The other pipe is done too, but not installed yet, he needs to buy more clamps. I was trying to convince him to let me make it sit lower in the engine bay but that is the way he wanted it, so thats the way I made it.

I like your valve cover. It looks identical to mine.

Question... since that radiator doesnt have a bung on it for the fan sensor, where are you going to put it?

Tonus is right about the rad and fans, I have my fans controlled by the touch screen plc in the car. I can controll the setpoints from the drivers seat. It monitors the engine temp, if the thermostat opens at 180*, and the engine temp reaches 185* or so, the fans will come on until the engine temp falls back below 180*. Its been a while since I lookd at the programs so I am not sure about the setpoints, but that is how my fans work.

Started the colt up the other day, I have to fix a power steering leak and get an alignment on friday, along with trying to get an airfilter setup on it. Here is a little vid in the garage of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfliZzNeknk

The high idle is fine when its cold and warming up, when its half warm the idle gets screwed up and surges until its fully warm for some reason. Then the car idles lumpy like it should once its up to temp. I started cleaning up the garage and getting it ready for the winter. I had a lot of crap that accumulated over the summer months in there...
