4g61t from the Japanese market had more horsepower than the stock US market.

Intercooler helped, as did the 1990 DSM style oil cooler.

If you find some mint condition camshafts and are saving a 4g61t motor, or are restoring it, then it's worth using them.

There are so many other options if this is not the case, because all cams from the 4g6X motors of this era, are interchangeable. 6 bolt crankshaft blocks 100%

A JDM Mirage factory service manual will have camshaft specifications listed in it for you.

Just have to find one.

All we have listed are the North American variations.

JDM C53A Cyborg turbo 4g61t

Exhaust camshaft:
1987.09.1-1989.09.1 MD128971
1989.09.2-1991.08.3 MD153631

Intake camshaft
Same timelines MD128970
Same timelines MD153630 now MD335756

USDM C53A Mirage/Colt 4g61t

Exhaust camshaft
MD128971
Intake camshaft
MD128970 now MD335752

So, there you have it.

No idea what letter denotes which camshaft, nor does my copy of ASA show that in comments anywhere. Wish it did.

Here is the data from that model.

Here are some common camshaft durations for the DOHC 4g6X engines.

intake: ID mark A,D: 1.3972-1.4138
intake: ID mark B,C,E,F:1.3858-1.3661

exhaust ID mark A:1.3858-1.3661
exhaust ID mark C:1.3972-1.3776
exhaust ID mark E,F:1.3744-1.3547

Don't quote me on this but I think the most "aggressive" cams came out of the overseas AMG 2.0 DOHC Galants (NA FWD) and the Rare usdm DOHC 4g64 Galant GS.

Here is thread from tooners that has tons of info in it.

DSM's would have the cams listed above.

Mirage/Colts/Cyborg turbo cams have different lift and duration numbers.

Those numbers will be listed here:
