Everybody usually mounts it in the spare tire well. Check the awd subforum, pretty much everyone who went awd went with a fuel cell. That one looks fine, just be sure to measure it out on the car with their dimensions. There's no sending unit with that one, do you plan on running an external pump?

You're gonna have some fun trying to run an in-tank pump with a fuel cell, most of them just aren't setup for that, just a sending unit. Doesn't mean it can't be done though if you're good at fabricating things. There are some that have a sending unit and hanger for an in-tank but they're $$$.

Why not buy a new tank, have it coated on the outside/inside (after a little degrease) and call it a day?

A new tank is still the best idea.

Unless you have a company that does some dipping of components in serious chemicals that will completely remove the rust, and which can be prepped and coated with a finish like an epoxy like POR15 (for fuel tanks) or some other coating before corrosion sets in due to a lack of finish on the base metal.

Is there any fuel cells that are under $200 that have an in tank pump?

Not in tank but similar to what was posted earlier:

http://www.4g61t.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... ll#p312092

The ones that take an aftermarket pump and GM level sender, use great baffling and would be best suited with foam balls installed, for spirited driving conditions. Surge tank is the next step, like all good race cars.

Wonder if there are any chrome platers around, and if they would suggest a dip in their chemical pools as being "okay", and still be able to put fuel in without any residue causing issues.

Those chrome guys, the three stage rebuilders, have the strongest stuff around .... and you live in the land of restoration ... California.

You can also rehab the old tank with this.

I'm sorry to ruin this thread but for sake of conserving money I am going to purchase an OEM tank off rockauto for $150. Reason being I have a 2.4l G4CS that someone put 10.0-1 compression Wiseco pistons in and I have to upgrade to run E85 or I'll knock all the time. I'm going to go OEM get a Walboro 400lph in tank pump, all new fuel hose, FPR and run 1450-1650 FIC injectors, along with mirror polishing the combustion chamber to try and delete any chances for knock to come into play

You could also do water injection if you're really worried about it.

Can someone tell me what you mean by water injection? Into the intake to cool the air? Or intercooler

Water injection is right before the the throttle body. It is misted in accurately to super cool the intake charge. You can also spray water on the inter cooler for the same kind of cooling effect. I will run a water/meth injection.

Water is injected in a super fine mist which then goes into the combustion chamber with the air/fuel mixture. When the mixture explodes, the water is turned into steam which due to the laws of thermodynamics, instantly cools the charge with no loss in power. This helps with monster turbo setups or high compression.
