My Colt's been off the road since '12 and now with having fixed the issues and upgrades, I went to renew the plates. The last time I did this, in person at the dmv, they charged for the next year from that day. When I did it online this time and entered the dates, it told me I owed the last two years plus this year for a lovely price of $240.

Looks like I won't be registering it for 5 months. In '15 she hits that magical 25 year mark and I can get Hobby plates for $200 and never register it again.

Indiana does the same thing. Government agencies always get you in the end

The online registration has an entire step dedicated to asking when it was last on the road. You'd think it would be able to figure itself out.
