Headed to my shop today, went to put the key in the door locks and it went in real hard. Tried the deadbolt, same thing. Some scumbag tried bump-keying my locks. Luckily, I had just upgraded my lockset to a bumpproof set, all the dipshit did was bend the pins (which makes the key go in hard). The best part is just how stupid the guy is. I have cameras and right next to the door is a sign that says "This area is under surveillance". He drove up, giving me (and the police) a nice view of his truck, then walked a good 40' to the door. The genius then decided to turn his head to peek into my truck that was parked there giving a nice side profile of his face (he was wearing a cap pulled low).
I had a cop come out and filled out a report, he pointed out the guy stuffing something back into his pocket as he walked away then took off, had some donuts to eat or something. I then sent the screenshot of the truck out to about 20 people and nobody had a clue...then I got a call. This moron I sold a car to for scrap last summer calls me up freaking out, "WHO'S THIS? WHO IS THIS?!". I told him who I was and he goes "That's my truck...but that's not me!" keeping in mind that I had only sent him a picture of the truck but not of the person on the camera. About a minute later in the conversation he says "I saw your truck parked there so I came up and knocked on the door then left".
Now the only debate is whether to give the info to the cops who, in this town, don't do shit unless everything falls into their lap and even then it's 50/50 on whether they act on evidence, or for a few of us to handle it ourselves.
