Had to put down our cat of 10 years today, mammarian cancer. Took 3 shots worth. First shot was .5cc into her side, then after that only slowed her breathing, another .5 into a main artery vein, no heartbeat. Vet left the room for us to grieve only for her to start breathing a minute later with a very very slow heartbeat. Got the vet and he did another 1cc directly into her heart. Vet said she had twice the amount of sedative it would take to knock a human unconscious in her. She was a fighter til the end and she will be missed greatly. Our kitten who knew her only for a few months has been searching for her since we got back, he's sleeping in her usual spot now.

Sorry to hear that man. Last year we picked up two kittens and they wondered across the street and one of them got stepped on by accident (the neighbor claims it was hit by a car but the vet said no way). Anyway we ended up having to put it down and it sucked because we all got attached to it so fast. This was only after owning it for like a week or two so I can imagine how attached you would be after ten years.

Like us though, I'm sure you couldn't stand to see her in pain and she was better off and no longer suffering.

Me and my fiancee are both cat people and know exactly how attached and part of the family they become. Sorry for the loss.

Here's our newest kitten. He's still taking it hard, still looking for her, going into corners and under the bed meowing for her.

And one of him with her. (The shirt was to keep her from her obsessive licking.)

I've been there with a few pets in my lifetime. It sucks big time. Out of all my pets though I gotta give credit to my cats for there survival capabilities. One of them got into a fight with a neighbors cat and his paw was swollen so bad he couldn't walk on it. After some first aid and two days of time, he was running like nothing ever happened. Nine lives is a rep well earned. Sorry again for your loss.

I feel your pain. I had to put down my cat I had for 14 years about a year ago.
