^I've got to agree with what Mechacode wrote. The Supreme Court ruling that money=speech was the nail in the coffin for the American political system. With what is happening in Washington these days, Ron Paul would simply get bent over as a result of the system, just like everyone else. Granted, he might put up more of a fight than Obama but ultimately the money will get what they want. If not, I'm sure he'd be assassinated. :o

I propose a 2-year limit on Senate seats!! No more legacies and re-election campaigns, just work getting done as fast as it can get done.

Ron Paul has a chance to win, people just need to continue spreading word about him and let people know what he's about. If democrats are too ignorant to vote for the right person instead of the "right" party then nothing will change and our country will continue down it's slope.
I take some offense to this statement as a gross generalization of one half of a "two party" system. I typically label myself as a Dem. although I fall closer to what would be considered a true "Moderate" and I have been preaching RP for years to my friends, family, and anyone that will listen.

There are plenty of Republicans that won't vote for Ron either so let's just leave it at that.

I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Do you think we can fix this with the ballot? If not, when do we start voting from the rooftops through a scope?

Sorry, wasn't meant to generalize all in a certain party. I should have worded it differently. I was just trying to state that people should vote for who can do the best job/has shown they can do the best job, not because of the person's party. I have an aunt that wouldn't vote for a "republican" if they were exactly the person she liked because of their party/distinction.

Well besides capitalism, and "greedy" corporations, there is socialism. Well, more socialism costs more money. And Socialism isn't any more effective than capitalism. As you can see that throughout the world right now.

How are we supposed to afford more, with a budget like this^

:finga: And to all that say your vote doesn't matter, if you all got off your asses and registered right now/voted. About 40% of people don't vote. You could actually change something. Fact if the non-voters actually voted, you could sway elections, in either favor for the majority of elections(like 98%).

Ron Paul is a republican because registering as a independent is ineffective and political/financial suicide. So to all who think he is an "average republican good ol boy" would be sorely wrong. But either way, with America being in the poorhouse and mismanagement of govt., any conservative(besides bush) is needed right now to clean up house.

Heads up if you want Ron Paul, you have to register as a republican in most states, and vote in the primaries. In most states if you register as a independent or a democrat, you loose you right to vote for the republican nominee's .Each state is different, but if you want to vote, register as soon as possible.

I don't mind that some of my taxes are going to build good schools for kids but I am definitely against my tax money going towards laquisha's welfare check for having her 14th kid. If you live on welfare, any kids after the 3rd one should just be taken away from you instead of getting a fatter check. Governor walker here in wisconsin did some great things (gun laws) but the guy is just a puppet. He cuts teacher's benefits and education budgets to save money and then gives $200+ million in tax cuts to the koch brother's various corporations. I'm hoping the idiot gets recalled next spring.

Sir, your state ran out of money, cuts had to be from somewhere. It's the previous politicians fault for running it into the ground. He was just the guy who gets blamed for the aftermath. No person in there "right mind" likes to cut teachers benefits. You give tax breaks to corp's to make it attractive for them to do business in your area. When you have a big company doing business in your area, you create more jobs, which in turn gives out more taxes(the theory anyways).

If you listen to the news they make it seem so 1 dimensional. Like all conservatives are out to get teachers and firefighters....yada yada.

If you start taxing business more, you run into the problem of mass exodus, and no jobs. With no jobs; no taxes; with no taxes; even less to spend on education.

The left(and corrupt right) likes to give away more than the states usually make(for getting the popular vote), using "projected income/investing in the state" as an excuse. Well, people get used to the govt. handing out more. When things finally go bad, and a conservative has to go in and clean up, and make the state more responsible; No matter what he does, he will be criticized.

Holy wow. Please someone kill this thread.

We are all friends; please do not bring something as volatile as politics to an automotive board.

It is too easy to just not express your opinions on this forum.

If someone gets offended by politics enough to end a friendship, that would be just weird. This is a automotive board, but this is the off topic section. No ones yelling, threatning or cursing with intent. I see no reason to lock.

BTW Love you all :partyman: . Except Mechacode, I love you most

To me it's seems that politicians have been making politics more polarized than ever to coerce us to choose sides. It's that distraction that will keep each side in power. The real solutions lie somewhere in the middle, yet we are very far from that. Divide and conquer?

Race did play into it.

Obama got alot of People of color to vote, but believe me, it was a combination of
EVERYONE who wanted change. Ron Paul's no different.

Hope he wins, then we can all tell the Ron Paul supporters he's full of shit, and a "liar" for not
carrying out on his promises like the current President.

And the President before him
And the President before him

Too bad your vote doesn't matter in the presidential race. I'm not picking on you, I just think it's funny when people, other than state reps, think their vote for president matters.
Wut? The electoral college, while containing the same number of votes as there are house reps and senators for given state, the members of the electoral college aren't actually those people. Actually, according to the constitution, nobody who works for the federal government can be an elector. That said, every state, less Nebraska and Maine, gives their votes 100% to the person who wins the popular ballot in that state. About half the states have laws allowing punishment of electors who break from the popular vote.

All that aside - I like Ron Paul. I do. He is one of the few repubs that is moderate and sensible enough to win in the general election. His being moderate instead of way far right is the same reason he will probably lose the repub primary. This can be the year of the 3rd party candidate. Come on people, throw your vote away with me!

Ron paul is about as right wing as you can get, far more conservative than a "regular republican"(he is a libertarian running on the republican ticket). Not what the media tells you. He believes in a very limited govt.; Your avg. republican is for govt. spending on defence/medicare, and wants to make laws that benifit there own religion. Your avg. democrat wants to make laws that feel good, give benifits away that we cannot necisarily afford and make laws that make our society more conformist and "safe". Your avg. libertarian, wants to make laws that follow the constitution, have less taxes, and create laws that promote free market, speech freedoms, and to try to destroy compulsory social programs. Fact is....We are broker than a joke. We need someone to come in and help clean up the budget :not: . If you like the 3rd party canidate, register as a republican, and vote ron paul.
