After my crash and burn of differentengine.com, I was thinking make an archive of all the csm info that I could from multiple sites, into 1 easy to use site. I think It may free up some traffic here, and save info/pics from other sites that might disappear. Both csm and dsm info that is relevant to our cars could be posted there. If you had control of the site, what would you put there? Would anyone else be on board (either donations of time or money) for such an expansive project? Is anyone opposed to it?

Sounds sweet. Very informative. I might be willing to donate some time to it. If you can find something for me to take care of I'd be willing to help when I'm not at work.

It would be HTML based.

Some ideas I have been throwing around are:
An easy to use menu Opening page must be easy to navigate
No search function! Sounds weird but have it organized so well that a search function would not be needed.
Small Url's for example, If its about lifters the URL would be csm.vg/e/lifters
Give Credit Even though I would plagiarize the heck out of forum posts/websites, I will figure out a way to give credit to the member/site. Any content that anyone needs removed just needs to contact me.
4chan like interface: Hopefully will have a bar at the top with letters so you can quickly go to any category at the touch of a button. I'm not good with frames so I may need help with that.

B-Brakes
URL-csm.vg/b
E-Engine
URL-csm.vg/e
X-Exhaust
URL-csm.vg/x
I-Intake
URL-csm.vg/i
F-Fuel
URL-csm.vg/f
T-Turbo
URL-csm.vg/t
etc...

Also things that pertain to specific engines would be:
csm.vg/4g61
csm.vg/4g63
csm.vg/4g15
etc...

For specs
csm.vg/specs

You know what's wild? I used to write full web pages with graphics and tables in Notepad. I learned how to write HTML code and tags just by going to a web page and right clicking then hitting view source. It opens the HTML code of the specific web page in Notepad. That's how I learned and taught myself how to write HTML code. Back in 96 when the Titanic movie came out I had a web page based on maritime history and my Titanic section reached 1,000,000 viewers (mainly because it was linked to every search engine on the web). But I had offers from companies to sponsor my site (and I was only 13). It would take a while for me to relearn most of it. Besides HTML code has changed drastically since then. But a basic web site is all that's required. 3 tables with a header graphic similar to this forum would be perfect. It's doesn't have to be as elaborate as this site but it'll get the point across and be a great learning tool for anyone that has questions. Plus it'll help weed out some of the obvious questions we get here thus reducing the amount of unnecessary congestion on the forum.

Sound's like a great idea to have all the info on this website in one place. It would make it much nicer to find information and to keep it avaliable for a long time to come. I'm pretty good at building web site's, I used Dreamweaver CS4 to build mine. So if I can help just let me know.

I'd definately be up for making articles for it. The real vfaq has gone down the crapper with most of the links dieing. Maintenance would be #1 after it's up and running with more than one person having access to add to it. Definately need a visual engine bay section for stock 4G15 guys, that's one of my favorite technical sites. I'd like a simple layout, straight links to the next section, no frames. Maybe have the first page be just a csm picture divided into 3 clickable sections (front 1/4, door, rear) with each going to a seperate page full of articles pertaining to that area, articles seperated into their own sections of course. Nothing fancy, just info and lots of pics.

Awesome, sounds great. Site comes up on Sunday unless there is any big issues. After I steamroll the initial look, I'll start hiring mods(no pay just  )

The site is up! still needs 24 hours for the dns to resolve the 3g subdomain. but you should be able to type in csm.vg in your browser to get an idea of what it will look like.

I'll put you in charge of the 3g.csm.vg/vis section when my dns propagates. That will be the visual guide that links to all the articles. Sorry, for the articles I want the frame at the top. for the /vis section, I can make the frame dissapear with the _top tag.

Sweet. I'll get started on the images for the first page and I'll need to find someone with a bone stock 4G15 or find one at a yard.

I'll offer my services for a mod if I can. I'd like that responsibility.

They said it would be 24 more hours. so I'll wait it out. having 10gb of space and 500gb of bandwidth for almost nothing makes me want to wait 24 more hours.

After I get this issue resolved with dns, and me and mechacode lay down the groundwork, I will be handing out directories of responsibility. Pm me any ideas you may have or areas you would like to mod. I will give a template of what I want the site to look like when I hand you the directories, so don't do too much future planning cause you may have to recode later. again I'm open to suggestions by pm.
