i successfully made a 25 gallon batch of biodiesel in my processor.. would of been 35 but we messed up somewhere and had a lil spill.. but still it only cost 20$ to make 35 gallons.. i dont have my diesel golf yet but its going to be used in my friends fathers trucks refirgerated trailers.

Impressive!

Any more details? What did you start out with? How long did it take? Will it run in an unmodified modern motor?

ill tell you how it happened

we loaded the processer and heated to 130 degrees on 110 volts ( the element in it is a 220 volt element so it takes 4 times as long to heat) it took 3 hours to heat

after that we added the methoxide 7 gallons of methanol to the determined amount of catalyst ( sodium hydroxide) we determine the amount through titration

we added the methoxide and allowed to circulate for 2 hours. then settled over night but you can let settle for 3 hours and be fine..

drained off the glycerine into a drum.. encountered a problem me and my friend had slight methanol poisoning for the day we thought the vent hood was good enough for us as it was used for welding..

we drained the unwashed bio into the wash tank we had a little accident.. forgot to open a valve after we checked something so the line blew off and we lost maybe 3 gallons..

we washed with a garden hose on the shower function.. no emulsions at all took 5 washes to get the wash water crystal clear

drained all the water out we could and let it bubble wash over the weekend.. one night of bubble drying or polishing is good as long as your sample you pull is clear enough to read news print through

i sold 5 gallons to some one starting up their processor.. we ran a b60 blend in his 81 rabbit pickup truck diesel of course.. it quieted down ran cleaner smoother and the exhaust had a different smell .. not like french fries ( if it smells like the stuff the oil was coking in then you have a problem with conversion) but it smelled a whole lot cleaner

his truck is fine still running on the same fullup

hes keeping an extra filter and some diesel in a bottle so incase he has to change filters he will be ok

total time for processing and washing if i do it during the week for 35 gallons.. id say around 24 hours.

costs for 35 gallons to make it.. 22.17$

price a gallon .. around 1.12 ( we ended up with 25 mishaps and all) but conpared to reg diesel in my area 3.00 its still considerbly cheaper

yes paul it will run in an unmoded engine if you have a 93 or newer car pre 93 natular rubber lines were used and those degrade..

the leader of my coop has a 02 TDI golf with stage 3 turbo and he smokes regular TDI's on B100 he also has a 95 dodge cummins WVO powered truck
