Well, as the title states I was unknowingly jumping into a shop full of Colt'ers! Evolution Tuning in Gatineau, Quebec is home to 1LowColt's tuning shop (Formerly of Speedstyle the big Talon shop back in the hayday). While poking around waiting for a motor transaction to take place I got to talking to another guy there, and he said he used to frequent this board when I brought up the subject. Who else is this guy, except Mr. broke4speed himself. I couldn't believe my luck; I'm here with two guys who ran/run Colts with no less than 280 whp and 2.0L swaps.

Long story short, my buddy with a 95 Talon was purchasing the bottom end from 1lowcolt's 2.0L drag motor. $3200 CAN later he had a fully bored, line honed, Ross pistoned. Eagle Rodd'd bottom end with less than 30 Km on it. Now, that 30 Km's was all straight line and the cooling system would run up to 240-250 degrees Fahrenheit when at the track end but hey, not every stripper racer box can be perfect. I'm needing to find a link to the pics he had online ...... soon I guess.

This motor was dynoed at 500 HP at 34 PSI I believe I can quote him as saying. His next motor will be a 2.4 built bastard tuff and he is aiming for the 9-10 second brackets soon. It's not cheap but he's determined. Oh, he runs a Haltech for anyone interested.

Thought this might interest those especially, who were here from 1 year ago and earlier.

Tim

That's awesome!

I always have dreams of meeting you guys in person. Since I live up in Alaska, I have next to no support/help when modding, so it's basically all up to me. I always wake up in the morning dreaming I was attending a meet down south, shopping at your guys' stores, and getting help on installs. Lol, that would be sa-weet.

Did you tell them to get their scrawny butts to a computer and say hi to us? I haven't seen Broke4speed on here in at least a year and a half.

Nice to know they're still active.

Broke4speed a.k.a Chad sold his Sedan for a VW i think, and 1lowcolt was his room mate. My bro met Chad and said he was a great guy.

To answer the question about the status of broke4speed's car, yes he sold it and now drives a Vdub. His Vdub has sat for over a year and he has only driven it 17 Km's :o His build up will leave him with 250-275 Hp and he won't be snapping parts every day (well at least from what he figures). Chad is also the head of the local VW club with about 5000 members or so.

1lowcolt is running Evolution Tuning now that Speedstyle is defunct. 4g63T is his bread and butter as most of Ottawa's DSM'ers were attached at the hip for tuning and souping-up of their Talon's, Eclipses and such. You have questions and these guys will know what is going on.

One last thing, the Sonata tranny swap to a 4g63t was pioneered by broke4speed, just thought I'd drop that just as the man said it himself !

I told the boys to log in and woop it up but they are both REALLY busy and I don't think they sleep much at all. lol do any of us? :o

I'm still alive, but buisness and racing keep me real busy, not to correct you but the 500whp was at 21 psi, its now much closer to 650whp@30 altough i have yet to dyno it with more boost. next years motor is gonna see a good 45psi, looking to trap 155mph :) 140 seems slow lately (seriously you get used to it, im not kidding"

And Broke is a helpless VW fan, I alomost had him converted but he went back, It seems vws are alot like crack cocain...hehehe. Actualy his Scummit was the leftovers of my first colt, way back in like 1999.

Nice to meet you, and trust me Pat is going to have alot of fun with my 2.0!

pics can be found here, mine is the one with the wheelie bars :)

That's an interesting location for the turbo! Doesn't it melt the plastic bumper cover hanging down like that? :o
