Somebody is ready to, " :rambo: " the competition! 8)
That is some seriously professional looking work, so I have to give you mad props on accomplishing all that you have. I'm sure you'll enjoy it just as much if not more than the last Colt project.

Should be done for the shootout without much problem. I am going to be taking a vacation in the next few weeks to finish up the car. I am really hoping to have it on the road by June 1st, but thats not set in stone.

I am hoping it works as well as the old Colt, but we will just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the complements.

OK, update time again. I was hoping to get a little more done this weekend, but everything turned into a larger job then I thought (doesn't it always). So here is updates from the last two weekends.

Image

I got the doors I was talking about in a previos post. I think they were way overpriced (39$ each) but they will work just fine.

Image

this is with the doors open. I can reach in to get the fuel cell caps off easy.

Image

Painted the cage. I was kinda thinking about painting it blue or black. But when I got to K-mart they had 12 cans of green and 10 of gray and nothing else.... so gray it was. It is gloss gray not gray primer before somebody asks

I got the fuel lines done and love the way they came out. I did however make a boo boo when I made the bulkhead fitting mount. I did not realize that the forward most fitting was going to hit the suspension so I added a -6 90 degree fitting and it clears the susp by a mile. It is also the pump gas return line so flow won't be a issue.

Image

engine compartment side of things.

Image

back of car.. you can kinda see the 90 degree fitting. I had another shot of it, but I am not sure if it did not upload or what..

Image

I started doing the wiring... OMG what a nightmare I am changing a lot of things and the 90 DSM wiring diagram does not quite match up and the Colt wiring diagram I have is not correct either... but between the two I am getting by.

Image

Nice mess of wires laying everywhere..

Image

Wiring and plumbing for the fuel cells.. Too bad that will all be covered up as I think it looks soo cool.

Image

The mess of wiring laying on the floor and the laptop for the diagrams. I was laying on that piece of insulation.. The concrete is cold and that is the MOD for cold floor action.

So thats were it sits right now, but it gets a little closer each day.

I have a idea as to what I am going to do with the core support, but have not really looked at it yet.

I find with projects this big the only way to do it is to make it a bunch of small jobs. I never get too far ahead of myself or try to do more then one thing at a time.

The plan right now on the piece of cardboard hanging on my shelf is to do the electrical. The install the motor for the last time (unless I decide to try to do something to the trans) wire it and plumb it, then install the turbo/radiator/intercooler and then build the core support. But things don't always go as planned.

My wife is going to go see her parents this weekend. I have to put a clutch and flywheel in her SRT-4 on friday, but that gives me the rest of the weekend (day and night) to work on the car so I hope to get a lot done.

As for the fuel system it is the same as last year with the exeption of I am going to wire it differant. But I do love it. It has already payed for itself twice over in fuel costs. Driving around town on 11$ a gallon C-16 is not cheap. I was going through about 8 gallons of race gas a weekend before I did the dual fuel system now I use 2.5 a week. Saving me about 60$ a week to run the car.

I will try to keep this updated.

Remember that rollover fuel cut we talked about sometime back on this thread!
There has alread been the mishap that meant buying a new car wasn't even an option anymore, and I'm sure I speak for every sane member here when I suggest putting in a safety system for yourself. Thought of an extinguisher setup too, because you already stripped and ready to go.... er, that sounded bad eh?

I really only find that one fault. :finga:

Sorry for the lack of updates, but there was not much else to take pictures of anyway. But threw some long thrashing sessions we were able to get it all together for the buscher racing sport compact thingy yesterday. With the car running pig rich (9.5-1) on crappy CAM2 and no suspension adjustments the car bested at 10.6@138 with a 1.5 60ft.

There is a ton left in the car and a 9 second pass should be coming very soon. I am going to go over the car this week and make sure everything looks ok and take it to the track friday and try a few tweeks on the car.
