don't forget about Koni inserts:
http://www.koni-na.com/display.cfm?mt_i ... t=Continue

it seems a lot of shadetree folks tend to shy away from these because of the necessary surgery for installation - it is in all actuality very easy! I put these on my Excel(front) with no prior experience. I am noob, hear me roar...

instructions call for cutting the tops of the stock struts off with a hacksaw. :-? ignore those instructions. the key is using a large pipe cutter that plumbers use:

makes a perfectly precise & straight cut without any real effort. you can rent one for an afternoon for practically pocket change if you don't have one laying around(I descend from a long line of plumbers so I in fact had one lying around).

Koni's paired with a good drop spring(I used B+G) can deliver awesome results at a significant savings compared to the price of true coilovers.

I can't believe no-one has mentioned my DSS coilovers! I used the koni's with them and did the pipe cutter as well (cost like 15 bucks for one and it cut PERFECTLY) I need to adjust the rear koni's but other than that the car rides on rails!

i've heard that the gr2s are really bouncy and since they're not adjustable you'd basically have to get the springs made around the stiffness of the gr2s. konis are adjustable so you have a LOT more flexability with how bouncy you want it.

Anyone know how much those Koni inserts are (front and rear)? any website/online store that sells them for a good price?

Thanks for the link:

$159 (each) for fronts and $119 (each) for rears = $560

I thought they would be a little cheaper because they're only inserts. Are these the same componenets they use for their "yellow" shocks, im guessing they are because of the price?

yes, they are koni yellows, but i'm pretty sure i got them from dss (who shipped it directly from holland to my house) for around 500. ended up being 900 total. too bad their site is experiencing the same difficulties this one was not too long ago...
