I had a magnus SMIM from my talon, figured what the hell. I'l put it on the colt. Got the stock 1.6 intake mani off rather easy. And man, them ports are SMALL. So i got the new gasket and put magnus on. Bolted it up. Everything was looking Good..

.... Untill it was time to put the throttle body on. The brake booster is in the way. So i worked with it, and got it on. to find out the TB elbow touches the brake like, so i pushed it outta the way enough to clear. Get it all back together and it looks nice.. Go for the test drive.. As soon as i would give it gas, the engnie would rock back just a bit to pinch the cable agenst the wiring harness. So it would hold WOT till i'd push the clutch in and let it break loose..

All in all. Its nice. but takes some work to get everything in order.

Did you put the smim on an otherwise stock 4g61t?

Did you open up the ports on the head?

What do you mean? The ports are the same size as the 2.0 Unless i got the 2.0 head on my car.. Hmm

1.6 ports are much smaller and oval in shape. You may have a 2.0 or 1.8L head...just look for the casting near the t-stat housing stamped 2.0, 1.8, or 1.6.

Forgot about this thread.. It sold on ebay last tuesday for 410 shipped.

On my head, it say 1.8. that good or bad? lol

For the 4g61, 1.8 head is good. It has the in/ex port sizes of the 2.0 head and the combustion chamber size of the 1.6 head. The 2.0 head has a larger combustion chamber, therefore lowering you compression ratio a bit. The 1.8 head allows more flow with the same compression ratio on a 4g61t.

OMG! that "MAY" explain my accident. When I was doing autocross, I florored the gas right at the closing run, and the throttle body stuck open. (yes, I had a bad crash, covered elsewhere.) Afterward the TB plate snupped shut alright and the cable was not pulled tight. So, the physical evidence did not support my view...UNTIL NOW. Well, you can't re-do. But I feel a little better now. Thanks

Means you need run poly mounts at least a rear one when running a Magnus SMIM...
