car is an 89 colt gt turbo. dont have a stereo yet (just got the car) but it appears that there are only 2 speakers in the car (in the front of the dash) there are none in the doors or rear of the car. is this normal? Do these cars only have 2 speakers?

Same here, 2 right under on the sides of the dash above the kick panel, 2 in the lower front door, and 2 in the back panel near the trunk. But mine is a sedan.

or, where the regular 6" or whatever size those speakers were in the back, just cut out to fit the 6x9, it will look alot cleaner without little boxes moving around and wires everywhere also.

hmmm, i'll have to post a pic of my sub and 6x9 setup to see what i mean. there's no exposed wires, and friction between the boxes and the sub box (which IS bolted down threw the fiberboard) keeps everything in place. going 45 mph around 90* turns all the time and never had a problem with anything moving.
