i just acquired an 89' colt with the 1.5l motor. the motor seems to be in great shape but the transmission grinds really bad. i want to get in touch with some local yards to try to find a transmission, but im not sure of which mitsubishi transmissions will fit in this thing. would someone please let me know what transmission will bolt direclty onto the 1.5l motor. id also like to know if theres any popular engine swaps other than the 1.6l turbo. are there any dohc 1.8l eclipse motors that will fit in this thing? thanks for reading my post.

Try this link that puts you to Berserko's online manual web page

This will give a good reference point but I hope that someone else who is more rested than I could give this guy a hand ..... yawn .... hope this helps.

There aren't 1.8l DOHC Eclipse engines, but the Hyundai G4CN, which is basically a copy of the Mitsu 4G67, from the Lantra and the trusty 4G67 in the good old Colt GTi. 8)
However, I think you are referring to the 1.8l SOHC Eclipses w/ the 4G37 engine. This tranny is a direct replacement I think. Maybe you'll have to use the 4G37 flywheel, too.
