stupid disrtibutors! ok, i'm trying to make my engine have spark so it came down to replacing the distributor... The faulty one from the car i have already taken out and i have another one ready to go in. my question and or problem is this... I didnt line any timing marks up, i didnt mark on the old distributor the relation to the head, did i fruit and banana up or what? will i be ok to drop the new distributor in and just set the base timing or did i screw up by not having the crank and head timed at tdc? tell me some good news..

Ive never put it in wrong so i'm not positive, but i think it can only go in two ways. The right way puts it in time on number one and 180 degrees out which times it on number four. oh wait do you have the 12 valve or 8 valve engine? I think the 8 valve runs on a gear in which case you'll have to put number one cylinder on TDC and then set your distributor to point at number one to get close to time and then put a light on it.

ok, i have the 8v... it is a gear. ok, what is the cylinder firing order for the rotor, like, what contact goes to what cylinder... actually, i still have the wires in the head to the cap so that should be straight but tell me anyways. Per faq it says the firing order is 1-3-4-2 does that mean that from the left of the motor to right of the motor the cylinder #'s are:
1-3-4-2? prolly a stupid question but i need to know fo shure.

Basically i just need to know what the #1 cylinder is on the cap so i can line that up with the rotor after i have everything tdc right?

the cylinder number one is the one next to the timing belt. Number one is marked on the distributor cap with a little "1" Other than that, you got it. :D

Do you mean off of the engine, or timed incorrectly? If it's installed you should at least get spark.
