Hello fellow forum members.

It looks like this is the place for those too lazy to search 8)

I have a 94 eagle summit wagon (fwd auto) Id like to throw a 4g63t into.

Ive been searching around for a decent motorset. Can I throw any 6 bolt 4g63t fwd auto into it?

Obvoiusly Id need intercooler and piping and such but in a nutshell is it possible?

Ive already done complicated swaps in other cars but I knew what I was getting into before hand.

Is my trans strong enough if I just found a motor and no trans? Will I have ecu compatability issue for shift points?

Thanks for your help.

A 6-bolt will work. But, if it is NOT from an auto, then you will need to order the Pilot Bearing form ExtremePSI for the torque converter. If the currently installed tranny is a f4a32, it might last a little while as ling as you don't romp on it all the time. Otherwise, you are going to wanna source a 2g DSM FWD turbo tranny (95-96)to handle the additional torque and power.

The stock auto transmissions in these wagons are junk. Most go out and don't even hold up to the power of the na 2.4. Grab a transmission meant to handle boost or rebuild the stock one and beef it up while you're in there. Or get a manual trans and swap it.

Is it difficult to source a rear end for a summit AWD and just throw in an auto AWD 4G63? I'm talking diff mounts and such. I think I would need an AWD gas tank too? Or just make a fuel cell?

Should I look for a 1G or 2G eclipse/talon? I've heard 2G motor/trans combos will fit better into the summit wagon chassis I have (1994). But I've heard the 6 bolt motors are more desirable.

Like most fwd cars that Mitsubishi made there are differences in the rear floor pans where the awd parts bolt up. Sadly this makes it more than a bolt-on deal. If it's awd you're after start with an awd wagon. I'm not saying you can't convert yours, anything is possible with time and money.

On the wagons the mounts are on the transmission. So you could use a 6 bolt engine with a 2g trans.
