Best to swap in a turbo ECU, MAF, injectors and resistor packs - so that means a VR4 loom for you on that side of the pond.
As mentioned the resistor pack keeps the ECU from burning out because they have such a low impedance that they would draw far too much current if left straight wired to the injector drivers; they are resistive ceramic packs that absorb the heat from this process. Yes, you will need them.
Best to see some of what the other members here from AUS and NZ have swapped into their cars to cure this, but a bunch of them started with turbo setups to begin with. You'll be able to use the factory 4g67 loom but it would require some wire additions to the maf, resistor pack, etc.
