Sometime in the past I believe I ran into a post that stated that it didn't matter if the ecu was from an auto or a manual, from a fwd or an awd. Now when I'm trying to decide whether to buy an awd-at ecu to put in my 91 Colt 63t mt, I can't find the info.

It currently has a MD166260 in it and was running okay til I had a 550 injector go bad and put some 680s in. I know I'll have to re-chip the ecu, but will the automatic awd ecu work in my manual tranny fwd after being rechipped?

Anybody done this? Both ecus are fed spec 6/90 to 6/92, according to the archive. I've had an auto ecu in it before (MD165529) and it ran, but wasn't real happy about the bigger injectors.

As long as you plan to rechip the computer for your injectors, there is no difference what ECU you use. In other words: If you have a burned chip for your setup, you can swap ECUs back and forth without adjusting your tune. I have both ECUs, and one ECMlink, and with hundreds of hours of logging, I can tell you they both run exactly the same.

I also read on the ECMlink forums that you can run either ECU with either size injector, as long as you match the FPR to the injectors, but that I can't say I've tested firsthand.

Thanks for the info. I know I've read it somewhere on here but it's great to hear from someone who's actually done it.

You can do that,I did with my automatic GSX. I bought 450 injectors,a manual tranny ecu and a manual fpr,and worked out great, still have the set-up along with a small 16g turbo.
