My Brother -in-law has a nice stock Neon sport (01 I think) 2.0 DOHC. I think they are rated at 135hp. Its a auto too. He was bragging that his neon is pretty gutsy for a little car. We work at the same place, so one evening on the way home i'm sittin at the light waiting to turn onto the highway. He's right behind me. I didnt really think he would try to run me! The light changes and i take off normally and notice he's right on my ass! OK! time to fly! I punch it and begin to pull shortly after shifting into second. By the time igot off the onramp, he was 4 or 5 cars back! Another instance we were side by side on the highway doing about 70 and we put the hammer down. I drop to third from fith and wind her up to 7k and shift out at 90. I was a car length byth time i shifted! We have repeated this numerous times. The neon sport cant hang! He told me later,"Man that little car jumps fast!" Hahaha! What fun! |

how has the 4g37 stuff improved performance? how much hp do you think that little 4g15 is pumping out now? my car cant beat anything, it's the slowest car on the road! |

autos generally lag behind manuals... if you were infront of him when you took off, it is way harder to catch up, thats why he was left for dead...because if he had put his foot down the exact time as you did he would be slowly falling behind... good job though on beating a neon...ive nearly beaten one...1/4 of a car length behind... |

Thanx for thr props. The 4g37 stuff does help some if you have other mods to support the additional air flow and fuel they provide such as porting and polishing. I cant say for sure, but i think around 120 hp give or take 5 to be on the safe side.  5* cam retard helps some too.
