This one is almost too sad (or is it funny? I'm not sure) to post, but here goes.

A friend of mine has a Mini Cooper. It's not an S, so don't freak out when you read this. We get on the highway, him behind me. I open up the 'Scort, and pull on the Mini away slightly up past 80... 90.... Traffic gets in my way, so I brake and he drops over a lane and flies by me. He goes his way, I go mine. That ends that. I'm thinking he wasn't playing or at most was half-hearted in his attempt.

The next day I ask him if he was wide open when he was behind me.

"Yea I was, you sonofabi+ch," he says, "and you were still pulling away from the Mini!"

No lie.

Yeah, those minis arent really fast but MAN do they stick to the ground.

The person I bought Louie from has a cooper-S and I was able to pull away from her like she was standing still. On any corners though, she would be right on my ass.

Big fat tires right in the corners are amazing.

I still would love to own a cooper-S :)

I beg to differ. My buddy has one that is dynod at 120WHP, has less than $5000 into it including the car and the 3" roof chop we did. He gave my Taoln a good go hiway or lights. (my talon runs 13.0)

I do believe he's refering to the old mini. Not all of which where coopers, stock, the mini came with a 10" wheel, the coopers 13"ers, plus suspension upgrades. The stock mini was also considerably underpowered. the coopers where much better, revised cam and carb I believe, among other things. oh, and they're LIGHT! which is their biggest proformance enhancer.

The mini is really the forbear of every fwd import, as it was the first major production vehicle to incorporate a transversley mounted engine driving the front wheels. The mini, and mini cooper have been sold non stop throughout europe since the '50s and in most of the world, the "new mini" was simply the next years model. It's only here in the states that we're Naive.

That's what I was thinking, but since the thread started out with me talking about an '02 Mini, I was a bit confused.
