A coworker has a Impala ss, the one with the lt1 motor. 260 HP 330torque. I found 1/4 mile times for bone stock ss's ranging from 14.68 - 15.1 Pretty good for a 4000 lb car. Anyway, he was right behind as i turned on to the highway. I didnt know we were going to race until i heard rubber screaching. I looked back and saw him coming so i hammered it. I was already about three car lengths ahead. We went pretty even up to about 60 or so and then that impala started coming alive! He ended up beating me by about 2 car lengths before he shut down. Talking the next day he was impressed at the run my little four-banger gave his ss. Not a kill for me but gained domestic respect and did better than i hoped.
