Pulled up on two kids in a blue GTI at a light. The driver was probably 20 and the car had temps so I figured he'd be down to race. When the light turned green, I got on it halfway to see if he'd bite. Sure enough, he bit and when he got alongside me, I put the pedal to the floor. At the top of each gear, he'd pull a little bit (I've still got the stock 1.6 exhaust, which really limits my top end), but after each shift, I'd put him back a car or two. By the time I shifted into third, he was a good 4-5 cars back.

Aside from the 2.0L swap, all I've got is a K&N filter (I really need to get an exhaust and crank up the boost a bit). From what I could tell, the GTI seemed stock, though it sounded like he had an aftermarket BOV so he might have had an intake or something under the hood.

Edit: I think it was an '07, not an '06.

Wow, Nate. Glad to hear your still out killing in the Mirage. I can't believe your still on the 1.6 exhaust...thats a HUGE restriction. I have no doubt that an exhaust would be an easy 30-40 hp before turning up the boost. Nice work though, I'm sure their jaws were hanging...probably couldn't even hear your car with that exhaust either. LOL

Bobby! You're alive! I was asking Davis what ever happened to you. Yeah, I really haven't done anything to the Mirage since the swap - I've been spending my money on making the Impreza not so embarrassing, haha. I'll be moving back to Denver in December so we'll have to hook up then.

Aaron, that GTI was pretty quick, indeed. But I'm pretty sure if I had a 3" turbo-back, it wouldn't have even been close.

That's a good kill.

I should've picked that car up when I had the chance. But like I've heard before, things happen for a reason.

I still haven't found those center caps either. I just moved too.

Haha, you blew it, George. I still wouldn't have minded trading you for the GVR4. If you ever find those center caps, let me know.
