Me and my friend were shootin the bull at school today, and we got to talking about cars. I offered to race him, he agreed. He has a 98 Eclipse, FWD, none turbo, auto with leather interior. I have a 1.5L Colt E with a 5 gear.

So, we turn out onto the highway heading home, I go about 40 so he can catch up, we get even. I honk three times, and I gun it in 3rd. I start pulling about a half a car length, then I hit 4th. He pulls in behind me and stays with me up to about 75-80. I'll have to talk to him at school tomorrow, but I think I beat him fair n square. Not by any means a kill, but a good time nonetheless.

Another reason not to underestimate the mighty Colt/Mirage!

If anyone thinks this is a bs story, let me know. The more I think about it, the more I think he wasn't really pushing it as much as I thought.

i dunno i can believe it those 98 auto eclipses are dogs...I wasted my old 96 dodge avenger with my 92 colt that is an automatic....the avenger and the eclipse have the same motor and weigh about the same

Yeah that 420A when coupled with an auto is horribly slow so I bet he was really in it and you really beat him :)

Good run...I dont remember racing anybody in my 1.5 before i took it off the road and bought my civic (dont hate me, it was before i found this site). I ran a 97 GS 5-spd in my civic (ex,5-spd,intake/full exhaust) and pulled like 5 cars before i shut it down, he tried like 4 times after that(same results).
