well guys what do you think is wrong with the colt.......

yesterday i was driving to my parents house, and noticed something weird happening....
it is a 5 speed manual transmission.....

--i have a moaning coming from under the hood(EDIT: i need a flush and fill)

HERES THE PROBLEM:
--when the car is in gear and i let off the gas, the speedo drops to 0
--BUT when the car is neutral(and going down the road), the speedo stills works....

thank you for any replies

Maybe your speedo cable is about to snap?

My car did this too!

The part the speedo cable screws into came loose. I tightened it and problem was solved.

Check that out

If your trans dumped its oil and started making a noise and its only now that you've found this out I'd hazard to guess that you have overheated the trans and possibly even melted the plastic gear on the speedo drive...
