 Post subject: Gassy smell

i get this smell of gas as if it was coming out with the exhaust fumes when i turn on my car, does anyone have any idea what this might be and how to fix it?

how long was your car sitting... cause my smells ritch but it' getting better as i rev for hrs on end

I get that smell from time to time, I just got my car so i cant really pin point when it does it the most, but even my girl friend mentioned it once.

use a flashlight and a mirror and look at the top rear of the gas tank . where the vent tube attaches to the top of the tank has a nasty habit of rusting . I suppose if the car came from a non-snowy state it might not be that . My tank rusted completely through on top . good luck !

Theres lots of places that gas fumes can escape. Check the fuel return line that comes from the fuel pressure regulator. Its just clamped on and can come loose. Basically, check all your connections. Fuel filter fittings work loose as well.
