I just had most of the bolts back out of the turbo and as I am realizing what is going on the idle starts to surge at around 1500- 2000.

so get all bolts tight again no leaks but the idle is still surgeing now a 2250-2700. A/F show kinda lean. during driving above 3000 seems to run fine, but as the revs drop below 2800 the car surges (real bitch to drive in traffic).

Just wondering if it is 02 sensor failing or idle speed contoller or caps in the ECU.

any help please

am now going to search the rest of the DSM boards

the ISC could be done or the MAF could be on its way out the door.

I had an idle problem similar to that, it's surged while in neutral moving, once I stopped it settled down, if it was in gear and coasting without the foot on the gas it bucked, tried a few things, however it's been fine for the last week or so now and I never done anything, Didn't make sense

My Lancer GSR as known in Australia is having the same problems. When i start the car in the morining, the rev goes as high as 2500rmp, then slowly decreases as the engine warms up.

When i drive off with a cold engine the rev goes crazy, come to a set of lights, the revs is near 2000rmp until the car comes to a complete stop, it is then the rev drops to 750 - 800rmp idling.

Does anyone know what is wrong with my car??? Any help would be appreciated.

My car has done this too. Exactly. For about 2 years now.
I just live with it.
I'm a tech who hasn't had the patience to figure it out yet.
Even with factory scan tool, nothing jumps out at me as being the problem.

Anyone got the trick?

Hi Syruptoo,

i've been having this problem for about 6months now and i can't stand it any longer, i don't know how you can drive around like this for 2 years now.

But does anyone have a solution or know what is going on here???

I have spoken to a couple of friends who has similar cars and they have also exprience the problem too but just not so serious.

i love this car and want to drive it around a little longer before moving on to a new car, so if anyone know what is happening please drop a line in and tell me what seems to be happening.

Thanks

well the high idle when the car is cold is normal...the cars computer will keep the revs high as well when u are rolling because it thinks u will be putting the clutch in again and keep moving, so it does it to assist with the shifting while its cold. My colt does the same when it was winter time...it idled around 2000 because it was friggin cold out. Now that its summer time, it will hang around 1400-1500 before it comes down..and it usually warms up around 1000 now because its like 90 degrees outside...my bosses car was showing crazy lean at idle, and it was loping like that...a 30% increase in fuel at idle with the AFC and the car dropped to 800 and stayed there..drove around perfect....
