Well I put a 2.0 in my mirage, with some nittos the car went 13.44 @ 104 with a 2.2 60 ft, but the wheel hop is ridiculous, and ripped the threads out of where the tranny mount bolts to the tranny. The mounts in the car are already filled with window weld. I remember seeing a thread on poly mounts but couldn't find it, so if anyone could help me to know if they work as is or if they have to be modified, or if they even work at all. Also the shocks are shot, so I need help deciding on shocks in the rear, cheapest and easiest to install. Thank You for all and any help. Anthony

We'll In my opinion the only real choice if you want somrthing stiff to avoid weight transfer is Koni Yellows the replace just like a stock strut... can do a rear set of struts in under an hour if you have a helper (don't even need to remove the wheels you can snake the strut out from behind them... makes life easy...

how much tire pressure are you running in those nitto's? and for the suspension, that would make a difference.. i also have the window weld stuff in my mounts and they it seems fine, but i'm running with slicks.

I took the Stock turbo mounts and filled the front/back/and power steering side mounts with urethane for windshields, this was very inexpensive and worked great, very little movement of the engine and no wheels hop, little more vibration at high revs, but it is worth it.

as far as tire pressure we tryed it from 30 to 15 psi. I used window weld in the front and back mounts but from some reason it didn't work. I thought the konis were a pain to put in and also had to be adjusted out of the car. What's involved in installing the konis? I haven't got a round to buying the lsd yet, I'm waiting till I have to pull out the tranny to do that. Thanks All info is greatly appreciated. Anthony

I just want to put them in the back, is there going to be differences, I would think they would be different, but I don't know too much. Thank you Anthony

In the back, they bolt up just like normal struts.

There are two bolts up top, remove those. Then one on the bottom. After removing those three bolts, the struts will come out. Compress the springs with a spring compressor, and then remove the nut on top of the strut that holds it all together.

Reverse for reassembly.

I believe they are struts on each end.

I honestly don't know the difference between a strut and a shock, but from my understanding is that it supports the vehicle then it's a strut.

Ie, on jeeps, you have the springs holding up the vehicle and then the shocks attached outside of those. If a shock breaks you can still drive home. That's not true with our cars. That's just my understanding. I could be mistaken.

ok if a spring sits on the "shock absorber" then it is a strut if they are 2 seperate items then that is shock based all 89-92 Mirages are 4 wheel strut based. if you want to see a shock based system look at a circa 92 Suziki Swift the rear is a shock based system the new ford focus is also shock based... Just for your reference....

I don't know if the correct term is strut or shock. I went shopping for rear struts a few years back. I was told they were shocks. I even called KYB technical support because I thought I might be ordering the wrong part. They said the 89 colt hatch has rear shocks. The person I talked to said it had to do with how the lower end was mounted. I brought up the spring mounting and was told no they are shocks. Greg

Most import FWD cars use a 4 strut config
