Lemme know if this is a stupid idea or not. I'm trying to think of a way to run the least amount of IC piping as possible. If you ran a thick half rad on the passenger side would it be possible to run an IC vertically on the other half of where the stock rad was with the tanks on the top and bottom. Ideally fed from the turbo into the bottom and from the top to the throttle body.

Yes, it's possible, and it has been done before on a CSM. I wish I knew where to find pics of it.

Would heat from the manifold/hotside be a concern at all? Also would be using ic that was designed to be horizontal and rotating it be useable?

IC and it's fins don't care about orientation unless you are tilting it backwards or forwards and losing the air funnel effect to the part itself.

Picture removing the side mounted strips that keep air coming from the condenser to the radiator. Same idea where you just need to know the intercooler will get flow across it and you aren't blocking it off.

Running forms of whatever material works and won't deform/rust, to keep air flowing/directed into your air/air, and air/water coolers is your first line of defense from overheating and heat soak.

Yes a turbo will be sitting right next to it. So keep heat shields and feel free to wrap it under the shields if you feel so inclined. Heat won't kill power if everything else is properly sized and tuned properly. We've seen posts to confirm this. Heck, we have a reputable member here who has a high power hot-pipe setup, no intercooler and crazy high HP/Torque figures. Engine has been in multiple car bodies now.

Alright I think that's what I'm going to do then. Run a half rad and an intercooler next to it vertically just got to measure it out and order the parts.

Someone with aluminum welding skills could make a 1/2 size radiator/IC combo in one. As long as they had a little space in between I don't think the radiator would heat soak the IC.
