Well here we go again, second time at the track this year and I keep breaking the same axle (short passenger side), first time I went same thing, I don't really know if it's a motor mount problem or what, I dont get it since last year everything was fine, no broken axles and motor mounts were fine, last year I was on a passenger side DSM axle but since one boot was torn I replaced it for a new Original Turbo CSM unit for this year, now I started having this issue may be just a coincidence , also we aligned her because alignment was wrong too, being honest I don't feel like the Colt needs motor mounts but they are just regulars so I was thinking if should I get polys but also I don't know which kit should I get, then if it is not a motor mount problem what else could be?

Suspension Setup on my Colt:

Expo-Vista Spindles with AWD Brakes
Stock CSM struts modified to accept the Expo knuckles
Stock CSM control arms
Elantra Sway bar with Link kit
Surtrack CSM Turbo driver side axle with DSM half shaft
Carquest CSM Turbo passenger side axle (broken now)

any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Once you replace the axle, have you thought about cruising around without the hood for about an hour and using a gopro to film the motor on some launches and such? It would give you an idea on the movement. As for Poly Mounts, pretty sure a set of Prothane mounts for a DSM will work, I know my colt is using a front and timing side Prothane.

If you're on stock mounts that motor moves quite a lot. I drove around for a bit with my hood off and it was a scary sight, all of the mounts were in good condition too. What were you doing when the axle broke?

that would be great but I don't have a gopro hehe  so a prothane kit for a 1g DSM would work on CSM motor mounts?

I remember back in the day Paul (pma1123) custom made a run of inserts. According to him the front roll stop took the most abuse so maybe just replace that one and see how things go. Not sure that I'd want to do all of the mounts for a DD.

DSM poly mounts. Three 13-501's and one 13-506 with modification.

thanks for the replies guys, so I checked my Motor mounts and timing side nut was loose, so I'm assuming that was the problem, I had a transmission mount for a 2g with a poly insert and I was able to use it on it just to be sure, also I replaced the front one with a filled one that I made weeks ago, I used window weld by 3M on this one, I hope this solve my axle issues plus engine feels more firm than before....

Out of curiosity, how is the axle breaking and what part is breaking? Wheel hop kills axles quickly. Is it breaking at the cv joint or snapping the actual shaft?

Pics on the FB indicate the shaft right below the or just inboard of the strut base IIRC.

First axle (thin one) was broke right in the middle, second axle (thicker than previous) right where the inner cv boot starts which it supposed ti be the thinner part of the axle, I wouldn't want to blame the quality here, that loose bolt on the timing side could be the mayor issue, plus front was stock too...
