Hard to say since they all look similar. Being 5 lug would narrow it down but you would still have Eclipse, Diamonte and I think Galant. Were you on HMT back in the day with a 3TC corolla and a single axle car trailer? Mark |

Galant and Galant VR4 were 4 lug, unless converted to DSM hubs from what I can tell. That is the big swap that many owners perform to allow for optional wheel fitment. Lancer Project files:  Lancer Project |

Thanks, kind looks like a DSM spindle. So I'm guessing this is the wrote option as faro a bump steer is concerned? |

I find this intresting; apparently what you have is a FWD DSM/Galant knuckle. I never knew this before reading Flying Eagle's link to DSMtalk, but the AWD ones have the steering arm higher up. Okay, so if they are fwd turbo spindles they should be pretty decent for a lowered car. Now I just have to figure out what's causing the problem. When turning left there is a pulsing /groaning sound. With the car jacked up, and car in gear you can watch the motor wiggle back in forth. Stopping the passenger side wheel from turning makes it stop. It's almost like the CV joint is binding up or is to long. It's a fwd turbo axle, I think the lower control arm is galant, but not sure. |

You likely have a seized or binding inner tripot joint. Do not drive anywhere like this. DSM FWD and Galant FWD spindles have issues with being installed on our setup. I can't quantify the change in angles as you corner, but I don't think its a correct upgrade unless you are using a platform specific part, IE DSM AWD getting lowered and installing a FWD spindle because it relates the outer tie rod position better for a lowered chassis. I am sure there are knuckle height differences and or lower balljoint alignment issues, not to mention pushing the hub further out .... then you can't necessarily use FWD turbo CSM axles with FWD DSM knuckles because it will pull them further out. Maybe it's negligible, maybe not. Just please realise the changes that will happen and if they are bad or good. I will document this when I find it again. Stick to CSM 3G spindles (1989-1992), Expo and if absolutely no alternative, GVR4. *Edit Tuners thread: some good info Click GVR thread showing FWD and AWD knuckle differences with relation to outer tie rod placement. I just verified the AWD and FWD are a different PN in Mitsu ASA. |
