Post subject:  Ball Joint Dust Boots

Anyone know a vendor that sells replacement dust boots for the ball joints? Rebuilding the front steering and suspension components in my C53A and the ball joint dust boots are shot. I have had success replacing ball joints in my C52A and have a shop press so that's not an issue. I will replace the ball joint if dust boots can't be sourced, but the joint is still tight without slop so replacement is not necessary at this time and would prevent me from removing the control arm and potentially a stuck/snapped bolt issue. Thanks in advance!

If none are available, just buy a dirt cheap off shore parts and use the boot from it. Bet you can find one for like $10 US.

I actually already ordered a cheap pair of DriveWorks ball joints from Advance Auto a couple days ago since they were only $14 each. I ordered these in preparation for pressing out and installing new ball joints. If I can find separate dust boots, that would be great as then I can simply return the ball joints whole.

Do you know who the after market vendor is and where you specifically sourced yours? Thanks!

For future reference, and in case someone is searching, I can confirm that the Drive Works DW-K9617 ball joint comes with a boot that is easily removed and works great as a cheap boot replacement. They can be had at Advance Auto Parts for $13.99 as of this writing. Of course, Advance always has online coupon codes that can be entered to save a few bucks, just do a quick search.

That said, it would still be nice if lancerman could provide a vendor and a part number for the polyurethane boots so that an actual ball joint doesn't need to be wasted. Thanks lancerman! :D
