I bought a set of stock C52A Colt coil springs off a board member awhile back to use with a new set of KYB GR-2 front struts for my 90 Plymouth Colt GL. Part number for the front KYB GR-2 (Excel-G) struts is 235033. They look very similar in size and shape to 1g AWD struts. I do not have any part number for the stock Colt springs, but I would imagine I have the correct part. I took some measurements and the spring is approximately 16" tall. The height of the strut from the base where the coil sits to the top of the shaft fully extended is about 12". From the pictures I've included below, it looks like a lot of compression is needed to get this to fit. I've done numerous spring swaps over the years and never recall having to compress a spring this much. Let me know your thoughts. I'm tempted to go stock 1g AWD springs in the rear and 1g AWD lowering springs up front. I would just need to verify that 1g AWD springs will fit on the CSM rear KYB GR-2 struts. I've read conflicting information in regards to that.

I was thinking about getting these and putting them on some kyb gr2s.

Ditto. Those things look like they've been stretched out a lot!

Does anyone know the circumference of a 1992 Colt Vista 5 passenger's front and rear springs by chance? I'm going to attempt to fab a 3" lift for mine.

So funny thing is, I pulled what I believe to be the stock struts/springs from my C53A (not to be confused with the C52A I'm talking about in the original post) today to upgrade and when I pulled the strut apart and decompressed the spring, it is exactly same as the spring shown in my original post. It even has the same color markings on the spring. Did all C50s use the same springs/struts? I'll be going to 1g AWD AGXs and lowering springs up front so I won't need to bother with the stock C53A springs, but just curious at this point. It appears to me that at least the front struts/springs are same across C50s, but I can't speak to the rears as I have not worked with them yet.

I doubt the front springs were the same. Rears likely yes.

It will tell you in the FSM:

They are different.

Motor and transmission weighing more, means a different spring rate, etc etc.

That makes sense and what I had anticipated originally. I figured the C52A front springs would be a lower spring rate compared to the C53A. The person I bought the springs from didn't specify what vehicle they were from so perhaps they were indeed C53A springs and coincidentally matched the stock springs I pulled off of my C53A. I'll compare what I have to what the FSM says this evening.

Can anyone help me please? Let me know if your stock springs are the same as my 92 awd 5 seater Colt Vista and if so what the diameter of them is? I have some spring lifts but the spring perch is only 5" in diameter. So I need to weld on some widened material but unsure how much more. Just trying to get the fab work done before pulling it apart in these freezing temps!
